The media is a fricking cesspool that distorts almost everything it touches.

Facts but people here are often no better. You mention going to New Orleans and posters act like death or maiming is all but guaranteed.

Fake news old man. There should be a test to determine if you can distinguish between fake news and real. Fail and you lose your right to vote
I'd be interested in what the median salaries are for every league

Man except you see elite football players pop up at 14-15 all the time.

Yes but in positions where physical attributes are most important. You won't see that at the QB position in football or the PG position in basktball.

These conversations always try to focus on the elite of our Tier 1 (like the Lebron Jameses), but we could dominate without touching that tier, or even tier 2, or even probably tier 3.

We have so many athletes of the typical soccer build playing college sports at relatively high levels. We see these kids every year in college football and college basketball. There are so many WRs, CBs, Ss, PGs, SGs, etc. playing for shitty football/basketball teams with no chance of going pro. Hell, even if we just limited the pool to 1AA and D2, we'd have an incredible assortment. Then add in all the amazing high school players who don't even get those shots for being 5-7 - 5-10.

This! How many 4-5* WRs and CBs never see the field due to size or other reasons. Perfect example is Jelani Watkins. 5'10 160lbs is nothing special for football but damn near prototype for soccer. You get those type of kids with athletcism to burn in an early training program and the average caliber of players the US has goes off the charts

We need a combo of elite athletes that are willing to enter super elite, National Academies between the ages of 8-12.

This!

You can't just pick it up after a kid washes out of other sports.

It's like saying a 12 year old kid could eventually turn into a NFL caliber QB if they've never thrown a football before or a a kid could turn into a PG if they just started dribbling a ball at 12. It's far too late by that point.

Young? Sure. From birth? Nah.

I was responding to your comment about a 14 year old Bo Jackson. That's way too late to start.

Perfect example is Alex Freeman, son of Antonio Freeman (NFL WR). The son obviously received the genetics but he started playing soccer when he was four years old. You need a lot of these physically gifted guys playing from a very young age to play at the highest level.

Wasn’t Odell Beckham Jr. involved with one of the young national teams back in the day, but eventually decided not to pursue it? If I’m wrong someone correct me, but I seem to remember hearing something like that.

That's correct. But I say he made the right choice given his career earnings (albeit he apparently has poor money management ).

Drake Davis apparently was one too but he probably chose wrong.
quote:

Yes I’m sure that fricking Bo Jackson could never be near the player that some random Norwegian is if he started playing soccer at 14. He just couldn’t figure out how to deal with Jurgen Bunblefrick who is 5’8 145 pounds.

It's not about being a better athlete. I truly believe the US has the better athletes overall but you can't pick up a sport like soccer that late
quote:

But if you took heat era LeBron athleticism and gave him a life long training/coaching/dedication to the sport, I honestly dont know how anyone could argue that this would even be a competition

It's really all of the future cornerbacks and slot wide receivers that we should be recruiting from. The issue is soccer isn't a sport that can be picked up late. You've heard tons of stories of players picking up football and basketball late and making it to the NFL/NBA; but similar to baseball you kind of have to start playing relatively early.

It's too technical for someone to just pick up in high school because they are a good athlete
I’ve said it time and time again. But Trump is the kind of finding those niche relatively small things that people are passionate about and trying to fix. Other politicians should take a note
Just had this in Texas earlier this year. Agreed on a price and drove two hours to finish everything.

Then they added $4000 in junk dealer options and was trying to give me $5500 less on my trade in.

I told them to frick off and drove back home. Slimy cocksuckers.

She still leading the league in turnovers? As she has every year she’s been in the WNBA by a significant margin
Nah, my wife is frugal and a relatively high earner and still fine as frog hair. :pimp:
I don’t really watch soccer at all normally but it’s just something about rooting for your country to beat other counties that fires me up every World Cup :USA:

Obama got 100mm from Netflix for nothing.

It was ~$50M and AFTER he was no longer president and they have 20 titles on Netflix under this deal.

Melanie got $40M for a documentary about herself while they are in power

But sure it’s the same thing
