Moments later, an announcement was made that Lloyd had been disqualified for "interference with another swimmer"...

- Rule 2, Section 5, Article 1a: "Any competitor who interferes with another swimmer during a race shall be disqualified from that race, subject to the discretion of the referee..."
- Rule 2, Section 5, Article 1b: "A swimmer who changes lanes during a heat shall be disqualified."

Him and his teammate LAPPED the field by over 50 yards. Hell you can see the other swimmers still turning to go down and back when they finished.

Penalizing youthful exuberance in situations like these should be punishable by death. Cost a kid a shot at Nationals too. Hope those refs sleep good tonight knowing they upheld the rules! Jack boot fricks.

Sounds like there is some discretion of the referees on these rules. This is idiotic. It didn't go against the spirit and purpose of the rule. We know the rule is for interfering with another swimmer. There was no interference with another swimmer.
