Northern Illinois Kicker’s Celebrated His Winning FG By Running Onto Ball State's Sideline
© Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports
After nailing the game-winning kick last night, the 5-foot-11, 180 lbs Northern Illinois placekicker John Richardson sprinted over to Ball State's sideline searching for the Bronze Stalk Trophy that was claimed by Ball State last year...
The Bronze Stalk Trophy is awarded to the winner of this Mid-Atlantic Conference rivalry each year.

That ice in the veins move was better than most lol

Oh so it’s ok for 300lb lineman to showboat after making a stop on a 4th string running back when their team is down by 30, but a kicker can’t get a little crazy after making a game-winning play in a rivalry?

Come on man! Act like you’ve been there before. This culture of kickers running crazy after a game winning field goal is stupid.

I'm not a meathead and can maintain my composure and take my loss like a man, but I wouldn't blame the Ball State players if they kicked his arse. That's a complete bush-league move by that kicker. Classless, and I hope his coach apologizes for it.

Relax. He was just trying to find the trophy after drilling the winner. The same thing happens in Big Ten trophy games like Paul Bunyan's axe, the Floyd of Rosedale, etc. Not once have I ever heard those celebrations called "bush-league", or anybody apologize for them.

I didn't know he was looking for a trophy. That explains it- my bad.

I know time expired, but would've been nice if there was a dead ball penalty and he had to re-kick from further out and missed.

it was a chip shot and he acted beyond clownish. no one would complain if he got knocked out by a lineman.

I hate the needle in the vein gesture.

Well you be happy to know it’s not a “needle in the vein” gesture. They are just pointing at their vein to indicate “Ice in my veins” Were you under the impression they were just randomly referencing heroin? Lol

@hester that’s even more stupid.

He's very lucky he didn't get his arse kicked. Or perhaps Ball State's players are just a bunch of pussies.

Never seen a team win a trophy game? Arkansas and LSU players always run across the grab The Boot when they win and the other team has the trophy
