Deion Sanders, Jackson State Are Getting Sued
© Henry Taylor / Commercial-Appeal via Imagn Content Services, LLC
Jackson State University and head football coach Deion Sanders are reportedly being sued by the organizers of the Southern Heritage Classic for trying to cancel the final two years of their contract. The Southern Heritage Classic features Jackson State and Tennessee State...
quote:

“It’s a hustle,” Sanders said recently on the “Pardon My Take” podcast, via Football Scoop. “We’re losing money, tremendously. This particular classic that you’re talking about, first of all, why would two colleges need a promoter? You’re two colleges and you have A.D.s, why would you need a promoter, that’s No. 1.

“Secondly, I think the fee was like over 30 years, $6 million. That’s peanuts. So by the time you take seven buses for the band, four buses for the players, couple (buses) for people, assistants, hotel accommodations, food, you’re out of that. That $180-200 grand, you’re out of that. So you didn’t make nothing. You really came up there on a blank trip. We gotta stop that foolishness. The first thing we need to take care of as HBCUs is the business aspect of everything, and that’s something we’re changing right now. We’re taking care of business.”

Good Deion and good JSU. Bout time someone started calling these sorts of things into question.

Sounds like even getting sued, JState would be coming out ahead in the long haul by getting out of this deal. That’s only 50k per game. Prime Time is playing it smart for his program.

Sorry, my bad…200k. Point remains.

How much are they being sued for? I assume it is much more than 200K. I would expect they will sue them for lost revenue, which would be the damage they can show with the loss of the games. I would be surprised, however, if the contract does not spell out a cancellation fee or penalty.

I don't blame them for backing out the deal. May have to pay the consequences though.

No different than the black community, the greatest enemy is themselves and Deon knows it. They've always got one of "their own" pimping them out and they line up for it. Don King, Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, Obama, Kamala, Shaun King, BLM............ No other group of people has this issue, why "victim hood" that the white liberal has trained them into since the 50's. Deon knows it, we know it, its time the black community know it and do something about it.

Unfortunately, this is why HBCUs haven’t gotten anywhere. People at the top been stealing for years. It’s so much corruption that goes on at HBCUs

Add the founder of BET network tv station. That guy has more money than he’ll ever need yet was one of the first ones demanding govt reparations for Black people.

ElchapoL SU that's why HBCU's have never gotten anywhere, REALLY?!?!? STFU with that. I guess it had nothing to do with white universities not allowing black students in their schools but started noticing all that f'ing talent the HBCU's possessed. And once one added a black athlete and dominated they all had to get one and the pilfering started, white universities with more money and much better facilities started stealing the best athletes from the black communities and therefore robbing HBCU's of it's greatness. And if we're being real about it all the FBI investigations that's been going on for decades haven't been focusing on HBCU's. And Halfcocked I'm not going to dignify that ignorant racist BS with a response, you're who you are and being 2023, that's just sad.

The whole time Prime Prep was going under, Deion always played the victim, when he was the main cause of the problems. I told everyone that when Deion's time is over at JSU, the people at JSU and Deion will hate each other and it will end up in court. Deion has never been wrong once in his life, just ask him.

Sanders is showing he knows how to read a financial statement but, his marketing skills do not exist. If the Historic Black Colleges have a chance to attract more talent they need good publicity more than they need Sanders to grab the attention. The Classic game is free publicity and exposure. Take the money and run while trying to create a Classic with Grambling. That would be the best way to grow your program sir. It seems pretty obvious to me.
