During the latest episode of "The Triple Option," Urban Meyer talked about some of his biggest recruiting misses during his time at Florida and Ohio State.

While at Florida, Meyer said his biggest miss was Patrick Peterson, who ultimately turned into a star at LSU and in the NFL.

Meyer also named CJ Spiller, who ended up at Clemson.
quote:

“The one that I would say probably is Patrick Peterson at Florida,” Meyer said. “I had him. I think he’s going to be a Hall of Famer, we had him on our show… love that player."

"And then the other one is CJ Spiller. Twenty-five miles from the Swamp… I love that kid to this day, and we are still friends. If the Gators had gotten that cat back in the ’07, ’08 era, it wouldn’t have been fair how much talent we had on that team.”

The PP7 Windmill never would have happened. Kinda sobering thought.

Florida has not been relevant in football since Meyer. They just need a great recruiter to come in. Florida has a lot of people which means lot of good football players. Better players than Texas with less people. Find a great recruiter, and they can be great again.

it's not about recruiting anymore, it's about NIL cash. The game has forever changed, and not for the better.

Pairing PP7 with Joe Haden would have been ridiculous. But Tebow and Spiller in the backfield together with Harvin doing jet sweeps would have been a nightmare.

It’s not like Florida lacked for cornerback talent. Peterson would have been huge there just as he was at LSU but they were still good. QB talent and retention is what doomed Florida. Imagine if cam would have stayed there.

I already hated Florida enough during the Tebow days. Getting Pete and Spiller would have been unfair to the highest degree.

That’s why he turned in PP7 for academic issues to keep him from being on campus on time.

It’s fair to dislike him, but as a coach he was one of the best QB evaluators in recent football history.

Dude had Joey B as the 3rd string QB. That decision negated any positive evaluations he had prior!

Joey B in 2018 was a third string at Ohio state. He didn’t even throw a TD in October. Burrow just got really good in 2019. You can’t blame urban for not knowing he would turn into a heisman trophy winner.

Also responsible for running Burrow out of Ohio State. We thank you for that as well

Hell, be happy you got Tebow!

I'd say your biggest miss was missing Hernandez's gang activity and then getting out of town before it hit the fan.
