How little impulse control does one have to have to start throwing hands in a place full of cops? Like, negative?

I can smell the fecal matter and rotten teeth emanating from those photos.

Yeah I can’t imagine the grief of having to bury a child.
I vote food and bring it by if you can.
You’re right, it’s impossible to convey how sorry you are so just sit in it with them if they allow you to.

Score too low for being an a’hole? you’re not allowed to go eat out in public or can’t board the bus or can’t drive a car etc and you’d go to jail for a year if caught doing so. Orwellian sure, but we need it to keep these idiots at bay.
It’s not a coincidence that the type of people who would excuse this kind of behavior and blame it on “external factors and isms” are the same ones who make this type of suggestion and nominate themselves as the ones to enact and manage it.
Think about that for a sec and you might change your opinion.

I agree with your post overall but why is this dumb?
For some places, what makes them nice is that they’re not a destination for a lot of people.

I wouldn’t call a random woman I don’t know “honey”.
I also wouldn’t get in a twist over someone else doing it. Does your coworker have light blue hair and a man purse?

my wife is one of those "everyone should go to college if they qualify" types.
I really do believe that this comes from a good place (and she’s far from alone). But from what I’m seeing (secondhand from my wife)…the way this plays out for a lot of families is an apathetic and unprepared kid being pushed along by a dogmatic parent (or parents) who “gets them to qualified” by doing application’s and letters for them and pressuring teachers and staff to pave the way. Parents have gone from “expecting kids to earn A’s” to “expecting K-12 to give them A’s so they can get into college”.
I don’t have any insights into what these kids end up doing once they get to college…maybe the lightbulb comes on at some point, but I’m sure a lot of them end up with lots of debt and nothing (or very little) to show for it.
We’ve taken your approach. If our kids want to go to college, they’re doing the work. We’ll help and guide and provide financial support but this is their mission, not ours.
We’re 1 for 2 with our adult kids. I’m projecting 2 for 4 once the little are grown.

The site you linked is a known garbage site, and any data there is likely incorrect.
I’m assuming you’re referring to this:

I’m sure AI has a little to do with it, but we shouldn’t ignore the fact that there are a ton of people going to college nowadays who really shouldn’t be.
In 2000, 25% of adults had a college degree. We’re now closing in on 40%. Degrees mean less and cost multiples more.

Total percent unemployed minus percent unemployed of recent college grads (not sure how that is defined).

go up there for a tour. Not on a Friday afternoon or a weekend Open House. Nope, trot your arse up there @10AM on a Wednesday. And see the conditions. Is it clean? Are the kids being taught anything? Are there TVs on? Is the Director actually on campus that day?
This.
You want to see what your kid will actually experience…not what the daycare staff want you to see.
I’ll add, does it seem out of control and chaotic? That will tell you something about the daycare and the other kids.

I truly don't understand people who don't like the Atlanta airport. Like yea it’s fricking big but they can handle any amount of holiday traffic, you can get there via Marta to avoid driving and its layed out in a way that is easy to navigate. Not to mention that there are quite literally dozens of dining options in each terminal.
It’s mostly locals like me. It’s a PITA to get to from the suburbs and it’s huge and people-y.
Yeah you can take MARTA (which I’ve done a few times) but if you’re parking at North Springs or Doraville it’s likely going to take longer than had you simply driven in. Solid option if I’m by myself, not so much with the wife and small kids.
Operationally? No doubt it’s fantastic. But experience wise? Like others have said, once you’ve done it a few times it’s whatever but nobody looks forward to a trip to the airport.

This can't be overstated.
Even as far back as 2008, I got hired on a new project, with a dozen other people, and during the orientation the lady is going around the circle having people talk about where they are from. Everyone was from somewhere else. When she got to me, I said "I'm from here". She said, but where are you from originally?. "Here.". But where were you born? "On Peachtree street at Piedmont hospital in 1978". For whatever reason the room bursted out in laughter, but it was the disbelief that someone could be working in Atlanta and also originally be from Atlanta or the immediate surrounding area.
As I worked there for years, in the whole office building (4 stories in Brookhaven), I only ever met two other people that were natives. Everyone else was from somewhere else. Not necessarily Yankees, but lots of people from the Carolinas, Tennessee, Alabama.
This is exactly what it’s like, and I’m guilty as charged. I’m like, “oh you mean, like here here??”
Somehow in our brains, it’s like Sherman burned it down and it didn’t come back again until the 96 Olympics.
