Stephen A. Smith Reveals What LSU's Loss To Ole Miss Told Him About Lane Kiffin

Lane Kiffin's return to Oxford didn't go LSU's way on the scoreboard, but Stephen A. Smith made clear on Monday's First Take that the near-disaster only reinforced his belief in what Kiffin's building in Baton Rouge.

Smith opened by crediting Kiffin with restoring LSU's national relevance, saying everyone he knows connected to the program loves that Kiffin has "put LSU back on the map."
quote:

"Everybody that I know that comes from LSU is very, very pleased with Lane Kiffin because he's put LSU back on the map. He's made them relevant, and that is what I love.

"Now, I was scared to death, Paul, when they went down 17 to nothing. I was like this: 'Oh my God, they're getting their asses whipped. This is not good. This is not good.'

"But the second that Lane Kiffin came back and they tied it at 24, I said, 'Okay, he's good.

"If they had gotten blown out, it would have been very, very bad. But the fact that they came back and tied it... I don't think this takes anything away from Lane Kiffin."

Smith closed with a message to Kiffin and to Paul Finebaum, who's been far more critical:
quote:

"And Lane, don't change, because Paul Finebaum ain't gonna change. There's nothing you can do to change his mind about you, Lane Kiffin. There's nothing you can do. Nothing."
LSU looks to get back on track this Saturday against Texas A&M in Tiger Stadium. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC.

Exactly. Why the fook would Lane, or anyone else for that matter, care what Finebaum thinks of him? He's a douche

I think that FINEBAUM should be handed a defamation of character by Kiffen he had called him a psychopath and everything in the book, he has pure hate for Kiffen, and that the job of a TV Eadio host to ruin people character and attack them personally.

If I were Kiffin I would not ever acknowledge Finebaum again without a very public apology to Kiffin while Finebaum is on his knees.

It is virtually impossible for a public figure, such as Kiffin, to sue anyone for defamation in the US and win, so long as the other person isn't blatantly lying.

Taller QB would have got the final pass away, 8 tipped balls. No excuses. Just imagine if all 8 were completed. LSU wins.

I’m not worried about tipped balls. He’s not seeing the field. He’s not seeing guys running wide arse open. I know we have protection issues but he has to play much better

True, not seeing the WR's and the happy feet are probably the bigger issue.

Also true: eventually one of those tips is going to get picked.

(During the game, not the final play)

Lane won't kowtow to Finebaums radio/tv show like Kelly did, so he's spewing hate his way. He tried his rhetoric when Saban was present, and Saban made him look like the fool that he is. Nick made a lot of LSU fans happy that day

I never thought I'd enjoy Stephen A Smith's comments about, well, anything.

Accurate take. We are a catch and a 2 pt conversion away from OT.

My hope is LSU and OM both make the playoffs and thanks to the seeding OM has to come to LSU for a home playoff game. Obviously it would be ideal to get a 1-4 seed, but I really just want to see a playoff game at LSU and I want OM to be the opponent.

Finebaum is the biggest fraud in all of sports media.
