Update:
Multiple sources are reporting that Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding is staying in Oxford and will be named permanent head coach.

Golding will take over the head coach duties immediately to get the Rebels ready for their playoff run.

Earlier Post:
Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding is not expected to follow Lane Kiffin to LSU, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.

Golding, a native of Hammond, La., has been the Rebels' DC since 2023. Before his time in Oxford, the 41-year-old coach was the Nick Saban DC at Alabama from 2018-2022.

If this report is accurate, it likely means that LSU DC Blake Baker is in good shape to return and run the Tigers' defense in 2026.

So the D Coordinator Grizzly Adams is leading OM to the playoffs without an offensive staff. This ought to be fun to watch.

Yes let's keep Baker (Is what I hope happens). We get to retain the defensive recruits and players with him and Raymond back.

For me, the best LSU defensive coordinators were John Chavis and Dave Aranda.

We're gonna keep Blake, thank you Jesus. Unless he gets a HC position. Tulane could be a problem.

If Lane keeps Blake, Blake would be wise to wait a few years before seeking an HC position. He could learn everything about offensive football from college football's best offensive mind, which would make him a better HC.
