Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves decided to join in on the LSU-Ole Miss buildup Friday with a lengthy social media post ahead of Lane Kiffin's return to Oxford.

Reeves addressed rumors that the Mississippi National Guard would be deployed for Saturday's game, confirming that won't be the case before working in a jab at the LSU head coach.

“Hurricane Kiffin will no doubt leave destruction in its wake for the Louisiana university system at some point, but - NO - the Guard has not been deployed for this weekend,” Reeves wrote.

He added that Saturday is “still a college football game nonetheless.”

Reeves also reiterated that state and local law enforcement will have a significant presence around Oxford and the Ole Miss campus, which he described as the largest in state history for a college football game.

“If you think you may want to create trouble - prepare for the consequences!” Reeves wrote.

Kiffin will make his first return to Oxford on Saturday since leaving Ole Miss for LSU following the 2025 regular season.

Kickoff from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC.

That wasn’t a shot at Kiffin. He said exactly what he should have said. I just hope Mississippi folks realize that he was talking to Mississippians and not just Louisianans.

All Hurricane Kiffin did was put Ole Miss on the map as a legitimate contender for the CFP. Then after weeks of begging him to stay at Ole Miss, he decided to leave. Imagine begging a hurricane to come and stay at your place?
