It has been reported that LSU head coach Lane Kiffin is hiring Syracuse defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson as his new defensive line coach.

Football Scoop first reported earlier this week that Kiffin was targeting Robinson for the role. Now, it sounds like the deal is done.

Robinson will likely replace first-year interior defensive line coach and LSU alum Kyle Williams next season.

It has been reported that edge rushers coach Kevin Peoples will be back next season, along with defensive backs coach Corey Raymond and safeties coach Jake Olsen.

Robinson has been Syracuse's defensive coordinator for the past two seasons but was demoted this week by head coach Fran Brown. Syracuse went 3-9 this season.

Before his time at Syracuse, Robinson worked under Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M from 2018 to 2023 in various roles. He served as interim head coach for the final two games of the 2023 season after Fisher was fired. Here's a look at his coaching bio:

2009- 2010: Penn State (GA)
2011: Penn State (GA/DL)
2012-2013: Penn State (DCR/NFLL)
2014-2015: Temple (DL)
2016: Temple (DL/RGC)
2017: Baylor (DL)
2018-2021: Texas A&M (DL)
2022: Texas A&M (DL/RGC)
2023: Texas A&M (DL/co-DC/AHC)
2023: Texas A&M (interim HC)
2024–present: Syracuse (AHC/DC)

Great hire! Now on to the offensive line coaching. Our most significant weakness this season needs to be solved.

Nothing pops out to me with his track record. What am I missing?

Well, for the first 8 minutes of the Syracuse-Notre Dame game this year his defense didn't give up a single yard to ND...However that was because Syracuse received the opening kickoff and ND scored on Syracuse's first 3 offensive possessions: pick 6, blocked punt for a TD, another pick 6. Despite the 8 minutes of rest, Syracuse's defense gave up a 2-play TD drive on ND's first offensive possession and a 3-play TD drive on ND's second offensive possession. Other ND TD drives were 3, 4, 6, 6, and 7 plays. All that and ND only passed for 67 yards. They ran for 329 yards.
He better do A LOT better with the Tigers talent.

Great hire for this role. Someone else to look at is LeBaron Carruthers for S&C consultant - the original and still the best

LSU may need to keep Kyle Williams on speed dial in case Elijah Robinson does not work out.

He would be a slam dunk DL hire. Anyone k pw what the following acronyms for his past positions stand for? DCR, RGC. NFLL?

Slam dunk over a 13 yr NFL starter with 6 pro bowls? All SEC LSU bloodline. Don’t see it

all I see is Run Game Coordinator. All those abbreviations kill me.

I think this is a huge mistake. Kyle Williams was a 13 yr starter, 6 time pro bowler, all SEC at LSU. He holds more creds than any demoted Syracuse coach. Our interior DLine was stronger than it had been since 2019. Maybe 2016

Kyle quit all on his own, it was said, to him college football coaching is to volatile and unpredictable and really he don't need it.

Ah yes, "he was a great player so that makes him a great coach." And he left on his own.
