Brandon Gallego / LSU Athletics
Four-star defensive tackle Shone Washington announced Sunday morning that he has de-committed from LSU's 2022 class and is reopening his recruitment.

Washington, a 6-4, 305-pound prospect from Warren Easton in New Orleans, originally committed to LSU in August of 2020 picking the Tigers over Alabama, Florida, and others.

Son, if you honestly want to focus on school and getting your body back healthy, re-opening your recruitment is going to give you LESS time to focus on those things, not more.

This is the reason I quit following recruiting 2 or 3 years ago.

In an age where players “opt out” at halftime of a Bowl Game the use of the word “commitment” is laughable.

Have you seen Easton’s schedule?

Is Easton's schedule similar to Auburn or something?

I honestly laugh whenever someone says ‘boom’ anymore. There is no such thing as a commitment. Has been that way for several years. I’ll save any excitement for after signing day, then I’ll take a look at who we had sign, and research them then.

All one has to do is look at the backgrounds of some of these kids. Lets be honest and address the elephant in the room. Kids that grow up in the ghetto have hard lives. Im not being a racist. Im black. They come from broken homes, poerty and their only loyalty is that to a parent or parents or friends/gangs. They dont know or understand what a committment is. Some do. Some dont. And the bottom line is they young. Kids make impulsive decisions. Then for whatever reason they change their mind. So be it. Maybe our coaches need to consider this more when recruiting kids. Only time I get excited is when these kids suit up in LSU colors and play as hard as they can. Committments to play football is turning into a joke

We have no one else to blame but ourselves and the media for creating these high school celebrities. Imagine being 16 and grown men are commenting on your every post practically begging you to go to their favorite schools. Ceremonies and presentations to put a fricking hat on your head that literally means nothing. It is time to stop this madness. I'm tired of kids committing 2 and 3 times to maximize their attention. I for one will only tune into recruiting for two days out of the year. When pen meets paper and the games are done being played. That is the only time they deserve any attention, when they have actually committed to the team.

The only other time I time in to recruiting is around December to see who's coming as an early enrollee. Those guys are usually able to produce early because they were there for spring ball.

A teen ager with so many problems. Son you dont know what problems are yet. You still young. But its whatever. If decommtting from LSU is going to solve your problems so be it. Be gone with yourself. We only want young men here that want to be here. Next man up come on down.

I would take all of my visits as well if I were an elite level athlete. Of course I would have my hand out and take any bennies and perks that might be coming my way and then I would reaffirm my commitment to LSU.

Better he decompress now than the day before signing day. We only want players who want to be at LSU. Let this young man take a couple of months to clear his head, and ther will be a scholarship waiting for him....maybe...
