The LSU 2018 recruiting class suffered a big blow on Thursday night when outside linebacker/defensive lineman Adam Anderson from Rome, GA announced his de-commitment from the Tigers.

Anderson, a four-star prospect, and the No. 1 overall outside linebacker for the class of 2018 announced his de-commitment via Twitter.

LSU now has 20 verbal commits for the class of 2018 with the departure of Anderson.

Commitments mean nothing....cause they aren't bound to their word. And the whole canned Twitter response is played out. "I'd like to thank (insert school)....but after much prayer.....it's in my best interests..... Newsflash....it's in everyones best interest for you to keep your mouth shut until you can stick to your word

Commitments still mean a lot. A couple bad apples we have every year.. what about the other 20 who have stuck with LSU and will end up tigers. Anderson was a decommitment threat the day he committed and everyone knew that!

The "long talks" and "hours of thought" should go in to the process before committing. If you aren't completely ready to completely shut down the process, don't commit anywhere.

Man this us going to happen again and again. Kids committed this early are really a joke.

On to the next one. You'd have to be an idiot not to want to play LB for Aranda. Its an NFL golden ticket.

What decisions should we respect and which should we not since they are opposing?

Commitments and ranking classes this early based on commitments is hillarious. Hell, LSU was flipping kids a day or two before last signing day. It happens.

these are 18 yo kids that are put on a pedistal and some dont handle it well. when I was 17 the biggest decision I had to make was do I want strait or wintergreen and which hand to yank it with

Mine was how many Hot N' Spicy's from McDonald's should I get. Tough decisions on some days.

Maybe Coach O needs to rethink these package deals. They rarely workout- to many potential issues.

There won't be room for him after the National Titles start this year.

It's because he was a 4 star.

"Please respect my decision!!!" Your decision would be much easier to respect if you had any respect for your own decision. You jumped the gun and made a commitment you had felt you needed to back out of, why should I think you actually gave this new decision much more thought? I know, this is a high schooler so we shouldn't expect too much maturity... While that's true he is at a good age to learn these life lessons. His parents and coach shouldn't be too hard on him but don't give him a free pass either.

an 17-18 year old unsure of his decision. If I was a highly sought after recruit, I would not commit soo early either....good luck on his decision...reminds me of recruiting for the navy.

Perfect example of the flaws of the early committal process

Well that means one more is gone with Adams. Don't think they make a deal with 3 from Georgia and keep low guy on list. Griffin got his offer because of his 2 buddies.

"Please respect my decision!!!" Not saying he's a whiny brat, but this sounds like a whiny brat. I'd honestly respect his decision a lot more if he didn't include this. Good luck to him.

Problem is, we're relegated and obligated to play the wishy washy underclassmen HS recruiting game. Not the kid's fault...Nature of the Beast.

And it won't change back to the old way. It will just evolve in the direction it's going as social media technology advances
