Four-star athlete Caden Sterns from Cibolo, TX announced Sunday that he has decommitted from LSU and has flipped his verbal pledge to Texas.

Sterns was Ed Orgeron's first commitment after being named the head coach at LSU.

The 6-1, 192 prospect from Steele High School is rated the No. 4 safety overall safety in the country for the class of 2018.

I have no problem with an in-state kid wanting to stay home. Good luck.

Big 12 defense = 15 Yard cushion & Two hand tag. Not exactly DBU.

if he wants to stay home, I have no problem with that...hats off to him for saying so now instead of the day before signing day.

Wonder where he flips to next when the attention bug hits again?

This kid was looking for a way out. He saw the depth at Safety at LSU and started lookingaround. He says he was ironclad to lsu but was visiting TEXAS? Bye dude. Give your coach some sugar. lol.

If the kid was looking for playin' time we are the logical choice. On the other hand, if you're looking to avoid collisions with big ole mean RB's then the Big 12 is the place for you.

It absolutely sucks to see him decommit since I think he is a beast, but we have amazing depth at safety, so because of that, it isn't the end of the world.

His LSU lean is and always will be appreciated. The talent displayed by the young LSU safeties (Delpit, Stevens, Harris, Lewis and Monroe) that he'd compete with probably had something to do with his decision. In either case, we wish him the best of luck.

He's a solid prospect and glad to get the news now rather than later. Hopefully he keeps LSU on the radar because it'd be a great fit for both.

Assuredly...Texas showed him a glimpse of his competition at LSU. With the talent coming in, 'O' can't guarantee any position. If he wants playing time with his size/strength, probably made a very good decision and wish him the best.

No big deal. We're loaded. He's from Texas. It's early. If we really need him next year, expect our staff to make a strong push to get him back. The process will work itself out.

Yeah the SEC was probably gonna be too hard for him anyway.
