I played Fripp Island SC that had an 8th and 9th hole (if I recall correctly) on opposite sides of a water hazard that easily had around a dozen gators in the 4' to 10' range on both banks. If a verifiable ball landed too close to them you were granted a no penalty drop

inaccurate...if you are outside of quick strike range humans with an average running ability can easily outrun gators They are only faster than us in short bursts.

that would make most sense, but knowing the times we live in, the course would probably fine or revoke your membership for harassing wildlife
