That’s not negotiating. That’s “take it or leave it”. The other guy may have been negotiating but Calipari there said “yes or no?”

After reading all the comments I think most people think they are awesome at the negotiation table but the winner is usually the guy with the jet ski. It seems so easy until you add up the times that you prob overpaid along the way more times than not. The odds are prob against you.

Woulda been cooler if he said in his thick Italian (or is it Jersey?) accent, "Sir, this is my reservation price. If there is overlap between it and your reservation price, then when have a zone of potential agreement. If we can find a point in the ZOPA that is more favorable than both of our BATNAs, then we have a deal."

Set the anchor and hold firm but be willing to walk away. The Consequence No Agreement is all on the seller.

I did something similar in Jerusalem for a scarf for my now ex. Made my offer the Jew tried to raise the price. I walked, he ran me down the agree and a dropped him another 20 sheckles for busting my balls.

Negotiating on the beach in the Virgins is one of my favorite things to do on vacation. As soon as you turn and walk away, the price goes down.

The one dude was ready to make the deal. Looks like he got overridden by the boss. Who knows if it happened or not. I have a friend that works deals like that. He knows what he's going to pay, he puts it on the table and that's that.

I mean that isn't some new unheard of tactic or anything. You talk like your friend is one of a kind.

As a younger man, I bet he had to dispose of a body on at least one occasion. :pimp:
