Earlier this month, Pat McAfee made the stunning decision to move from his $30 million per year with FanDuel to join ESPN instead. Now the New York Post is reporting his new deal with the network...
quote:

Pat McAfee’s deal with ESPN is for five years and around $85 million, The Post has learned.

With the contract, beginning this fall, the next chapter of the “The Pat McAfee Show” will air on weekday sports television’s most powerful platforms. It will be on ESPN’s cable channel, on ESPN’s free YouTube channel and on its direct-to-consumer streaming service, ESPN+.

He’s one of those personalities that I can only take so much of. He’s become a caricature of himself which in and of itself is just not entertaining

He can buy a lot of blouses with that kinda money. He’s beyond annoying on Gameday.

$30M/yr to $85M over 5 years? I was educated in Louisiana but I’m pretty sure that’s a pretty big pay cut. It’s still way too much. Dude annoys the shite out of me and has made college game day nearly unwatchable for me.

I saw him once on Gameday. I have no idea who he is although he seemed to be "the guy" on the program. My gaydar reacted to him. Is that the deal? He the gay sports commentator representative on ESPN? How is he so popular he can command that much money?

I used to watch his show quite a bit. Pat is ok, but he's really just a caricature of himself now. AJ and Ty make the show funny. I'm not interested in watching anymore because even though they say it won't change... it will. Anything Disney touches turns to crap. I don't get how he thought jumping to ESPN was a good decision. No thanks. I'll find another independent to keep me entertained.

I only see him on Gameday...he's good there. Didn't know he was THAT good.

seriously, who watches the talking heads on ESPN? I only watch ESPN for the games, and that's it. I really don't care who the announcers are or who the studio guys are. I don't listen to that garbage.

Wow. ESPN is retarded. No wonder they are constantly laying people off. If I was a regular ESPN worker and got laid off, because this guy got a contract like this, I would lose it.

McAfee is the Guy Fieri of sports. I'd rather punch myself in the balls than listen to him.

People watch his show? $30M/yr seems awful steep for him. No wonder ESPN is going bankrupt.

He was making 30 mil a year when he had to do everything himself in setting up his format and all. But now he won't have to do a damn thing because the Espn people will do everything for him, and he'll still get a nice lil payday of 17 mil a year. Smh

Taking almost half of a paycut ...jumping off fanduels ship or what could ESPN be bringing other than money? And these type of deals definitely shows that there is no seriousness behind rumblings Disney wanting to get rid of ESPN.

And for the record...I rarely watch ESPN, but when I do seem to catch myself on it and this dude pops up...I quickly go back to not watching ESPN. Good for him for making that cheddar though.

My understanding is that he will own all of the IP and still be able to have his own adversities through YouTube. The show will still be available YouTube. He is basically making $16mm per year to let ESPN air his show on their platform.
