Steve Spurrier Thinks He Knows What Would Make Nick Saban Retire.......
© Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports
On Tuesday, I posted a story about Nick Saban talking about his retirement with ESPN's Chris Low. In that interview it read like it will be some time before that happens. However, Steve Spurrier has a theory on what will make Saban walk away...
quote:

“Nick ain’t thinking about retiring, not even close,” Spurrier said. “He can go into his 70s easy, and I think he will.

“I told him he won’t retire until he loses three games in a season. He told me, ‘If I ever lose three games around here again, they might kill me.’ I think he was joking, but I’m not sure.”
Think that's true?

I hope soon a season will come with the perfect storm and he loses 3 in a row!

He will overstay his welcome. Pretty much all these coaches that move into their late 60’s and 70’s do. At some point, he will lose his edge...just may not be for a while longer.

He could lose 6 and be fine. It's a lot like when Bryant was coaching. Nobody blamed him for losses. Saban will always be prepared. Those 2 losses to ole miss, meh, one was a straight up fluke. As far as Bill Curry, Not sure where u heard somebody "shot up" his house. There was a brick through his office window....a window 22 feet off the ground. We still laugh about that one as somebody with that kind of arm might have completed a pass in that 1988 ole miss game where we went 0 for 18. I think Saban was sort of one upping spurrier with his comment. Like, look t the program I've built, I'll bet u never had these kind of expectations at florida...and he's right.

I remember watching Finebaum after Ole Miss had beaten them two years in a row. I heard at least two callers say that Saban was finished and that he needed to step down and let Kirby take his place. They are fricking crazy....

The Ross Perot of college football. "Ya see here Nick is to stupid to know when to retire. I had 25 million in the bank. But Nick would rather have 25 national titles. That's just stupid."

The most ridiculous and delusional statement I've seen on this board in while. Still clinging to the notion that the SEC, NCAA, the world, etc., is against LSU. Yours is the ONLY fan-base that even remotely believes this. Sometimes the other team is just BETTER.

Or just lose to AU and not win the NC. That alone would bring the nutz out.

Yes that's true. We have a lot of idiot fans that are ungrateful frontrunners.

Man, I’d hate to be a player on his team if he lost 3 games.

Yes, they might kill him. Those fans are spolt. These are the fans that shot up Bill Curry's house. But the SEC will never allow Bamer to lose 3 games.

Yea man. We are so spolt. What did they shoot up Currys house with? An assault brick? Just make up shite as you go along, jealous person.
user avatar
Yeah, but pigs would grow wings and fly before an Alabama team under Saban lost three times.
