Appearing on the Paul Finebaum Show, Mike Bratton of That SEC Podcast said that Nick Saban's recent comments about him being open to playing fewer teams in the SEC West is a sign that he's afraid of having to keep playing in the toughest division in college football...

This is what happens when someone attempts to make clicks. Come up with the most idiotic takes and push it out there. Saban has always pushed for a top team outside of playing in the SEC. What a terrible take.

Then what is your reasoning for the flip flop from Saban?

And ya just had to piss him off! Now he’s gonna find another way to get all top recruits and start wrecking people… except for BK.

Just like with any business, Alabama has received favorable calls in most SEC games when they were at risk of losing. If you offer me enough money, as a data scientist, I can do the data and analysis ML for that considering there's enough free data on the internet.

But as a couple decade long watcher without missing many SEC games or extended highlights, it's in the SEC's interest to send the most likely playoff team, or especially the next BCS era team, to the next stage. This is why I'm in favor of an 8 team playoff, so you at least guarantee 2 SEC teams who will clean house and the calls become more fair which is what you're seeing now. He's getting older, but the SEC and the SEC refs know there will be an SEC team involved in the playoffs.

good lord, Saban's had the most dominant team in college football history, plays in the toughest division of the toughest conference, and typically plays a legit OOC opponent every year.

If you don't like the board Bama tard, then don't participate on here! That's all there is to it, but obviously you like posting on here because it's a well put together site that's mostly fair and objective to people on here. But you're too blind with your Bama sunshades on to realize that. Smh

Saban and Bama have played virtually every major school in OOC or playoff games and faired quite well the last 15 years. Saying Saban/Bama are scared to play teams is just fricking dumb.

There will always be Saban cucks on this board. An SEC game in the middle of the season when you’re dealing with injuries, fatigue, and sometimes playing a true road game is much harder than playing an over rated out of conference team the first game of the year when you’re healthy and have a full off season to prepare.

Saban has played a grand total of THREE non conference road games in 15 years. That sound like someone who embraces competition?

And I assume LSU played the patriots every week right?

saintslsupels, that's a ridiculous comment. For the past 15 years, Alabama has regularly been involved in one of the marquee games the opening weekend of the season. Opponents have included:
- Clemson
- Virginia Tech
- Michigan
- West Virginia
- Wisconsin
- USC
- Miami
- Florida State
- Louisville

Saban made the comment about not playing as many Western Division opponents in an effort to support his ultimate goal of going to a nine-game conference schedule. He's being flexible about SEC opponents in an attempt to schedule MORE SEC games.
