Former Alabama QB Greg McElroy thinks it's the beginning of the end for Nick Saban and the boys...
quote:

"It depends a little bit on how you define a dynasty," McElroy said. "I always define a dynasty with complete dominance over the competition almost always, and I think that those days have definitely gone by the wayside."

“To say that the dynasty is over, yeah, I think the run of dominance in which they destroy every opponent is done. But it doesn’t mean that I don’t think they can’t win a championship. I still think they can.”

I don't disagree really. Alabama winning 2/3 or 3/5 is probably never gonna happen again. Mainly cause Saban is 70 or 71 years old and he isn't gonna coach another 5-7 years.
But can Bama win another 1-2 NC's in the next 5 years - sure. So whatever makes ya feel better.

Why do you think they transferred "To" Alabama? Everybody pays now, Rammer Jammer was one of the few 'allowed' to pay all those years. Once the playing field leveled with NIL and transfer wherever you wanna go, everyone gets to do it.

If they’re not destroying everybody though, I wouldn’t bet on it

Portal and NIL killed their advantages

People keep saying this statement. Makes no sense. Please see the list of transfers TO Alabama:
Jahmyr Gibbs, Jermaine Burton, Eli Ricks, not to mention the old FSU transfers Bama had at Center and QB a few years ago when Bama won the NC.

But others are getting good transfers too that fit team weaknesses. Before that the only way to acquire players was getting high school talent that wasn't a guarantee to pan out. The portal and NIL are definetely creating more parity.

I think it’s obvious Scott Cochran was the reason Saban won in the past.

This crap has been floated around for YEARS and yet here we are, Bama still knocking on the door as always. Bama had many years where they took an "L", then we heard the dynasty was over, then voila...you can kiss the ring, the Natty ring that is. How about not freaking out after 1 loss Greg?

Melt. You lost your last game vs Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, LSU, and Clemson. It’s over… :nana:

Melt? Bro that's not a melt. I can go back and pull tapes and all in the years we say, lost to Ole Miss, or Texas aTm and prove every word I typed. Your other point about taking an occasional "L" is absurd. We lost twice on the road last year in hostile environments on the last play of the game, but yep we are done for and took 1 "L" this year against a top 5 team. Oh the humanity! Yep our goose is cooked! I know this place is more geared toward Bama haters here but come at me with better ammo than that...

The playing field is now level with NIL. Bama is not the only team 'paying'.

So many negatives the he confused himself and said it means he thinks they can't win a championship.

I can see how NIL is helping spread the talent around, but I wonder how these players having lots of money they can actually flaunt is hurting the type of shop saban has always had.

I think Greg’s career was over after the last snap he took at Alabama. I was right.

Greg is ESPN's number two CFB color guy, is all over the network, and gets paid to host a radio show for three hours a morning.

@Ssubba- honestly, I think the Ginger does a very credible job as an analyst for Espn. A lot of his work is spot on with what he's talking about and all, unlike a lot of other guys I've seen on other stations and all. I've seen Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, Brady Quinn, and a Joel Klatt on Fox I think it is. Then David Pollack, Desmond Howard, Marcus Spears and others on Espn. And the other turds on CBS, I think McElroy is better than a lot of them.

Regardless whether you think Bama's domination is over, Greg is probably the best college sportscaster on the network. He knows the game is usually 100% fair when assessing teams. He Will not hold back and mushy talk a team that is not playing well also. I am an LSU fan and I love when he calls our games.
