Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia has won a landmark court case as junior college years will no longer count against NCAA eligibility. Per CBS Sports...
quote:

Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia has been granted a temporary injuction that will allow him to play another season of college football in 20205. The court sided with Pavia's claim that the NCAA's rules on junior college participation counting against eligibility violates antitrust law.

Pavia played two seasons at New Mexico Military Institute before transferring to New Mexico State and later Vanderbilt. Under previous rules, Pavia was granted the typical four years, plus the blanket waiver Covid season after playing in 2020, which allowed him to play in 2024.

His representation claims that his NCAA clock should not start during his time at a JUCO, especially in the NIL era. In previous filings, Pavia claimed he could make more than $1 million in NIL and revenue sharing if he returned in 2025.

Hundreds of Vanderbilt fans rejoiced yesterday when QB Diego Pavia won a court case granting him an extra year of eligibility for the 'Dores next fall.

So, you're not good enough for the NFL, so just stay in college and get an education. Then, when your time is up in your mid 30s, take your saved nest egg and start your life. Pretty sweet.

As long as Charlie Baker is at the helm of the NCAA, they'll keep losing every court case, and rightfully so.

This is so stupid. NCAA appears to be the only organization that cannot make it’s on rules on participation and eligibility. They should appeal, but they won’t just like every other ruling against them recently.

And it’s all because of NIL not because education at all. Rules will not be able to restrict anyone at some point, and schools will be forced to have a team and certain number on roster or else someone may miss out on a NIL opportunity. Worse thing is that it was a Trump appointee. Judges get a wiff of power, and they become activists and legislate. Few can stay the course on conservative side.

Why would Pavia appeal if he won the case? Makes no sense

Has it occurred to anyone that the NCAA has bad lawyers and a bunch of rules with glaring holes in them? In this case, they tried to count juco years when juco schools are not members of the NCAA. And jucos are no different than prep schools, but they never counted prep school years. This was a slam dunk for Pavia's legal team.

It is 20205. The only two beings left roaming the earth the great conjunction are the cyborg descendants of pavia and the vandy pimp

Todays system crushes high school players minus the top 100 or so.

HS Seniors may end up getting hurt the most by this. More may end up going the juco route instead of smaller Uni's to be able to try to get those extra years.

It's really sad what cfb has turned into by these selfish greedy players, and their agents. I hope it all burns down.

So you can play 7 years in college now - 2 Juco, red shirt, 4 eligible years (plus a medical year or two)?
