How many playoff teams are we thinking the SEC gets?

We're getting to the point of the season where I think we have a good idea of the playoff taking shape, and things look good for the SEC right now. Getting 5 teams in the playoff is very realistic at this point.
4 P4 Champs(SEC, ACC, B10, B12)
1 G4 team
ND
That leaves 6 at large spots. ACC and B12 have been bad enough it's very realistic they don't get an at large. I doubt the B10 only gets 1 at large but it's not unreasonable at this point with Oregon's loss to Ok State and Indiana not looking nearly as strong. At a minimum we're gonna get 4 at large teams imo and 5 isn't out of the question.
What do you think your team needs to do to make the playoff? For LSU, it's almost a guarantee if we can beat one of Bama or Texas at home and sweep the rest of the schedule(UK, Miss St, Aubbie, Tenn)

The B1G is screwed this year with a bunch of average teams. OU, Penn St, Michigan are not making it.
OSU, Indiana and maybe Iowa (horrible schedule).
This will be the year that over half the playoff teams have 2 losses. I’d hate to be on the committee

No we're not. We are 2 games into the SEC schedule.
Injuries for LSU are climbing rapidly. Injuries across the SEC can change things quickly for teams. Marcel Reed may, for instance, be lost for the season, and Aggie goes on a win streak.

Doesn't matter who you lose to this year in the SEC. I don't see a 2-loss, Vandy-like team being left out this year. Just don't lose more than 2 regular season games.

You think Florida is in good shape even if they lose to Texas and UGA? Ole Miss has potential to fizzle out and then you don't even have a top 10 win on the year

FL could realistically go 5-3 or 4-4 with their remaining schedule. Hard to say after the high of that ole piss win. You see what a huge win against LSU did for Golding against FL.

To date these are the Teams with the best chance to make it in:
Texas - No losses
Georgia - No losses
Florida - No losses
Alabama - No losses
Ole Miss 1 loss
LSU 1 loss
Tennessee 1 loss
It'll be tough sledding for a 2 loss SEC team to make it in to the play-offs Imo.

potential for another 5 again this year. but with a 9 game conference schedule, there is greater risk to cannibalize itself with more teams getting a 3rd loss which has been a death nail in the past.

Hard disagree with the 9 game schedule. Most SEC teams have 3 top 10 teams on their schedule so 2 losses can mean being 1-2 against top 10 teams and winning the rest of your games, which would get you in the playoff every time in this 12 team era

I forgot about the 9-game conference schedule, so you may be right. I do think, though, that a team’s chances of making the playoffs with two losses could depend on when that second loss happens and who it’s against.

Would make the championship game in the Big12 or ACC and possibly the BIG.

Crazy talk. A 3-loss SEC team will definitely get in if they get it at the SEC Championship Game. I should know. With 9 conference games, it will matter, and the top of the SEC looks much stronger than the last 2 seasons. That's the big difference.
OOC head-to-head is swinging opinions about all the 2-loss nobodies as well.
