He was a Yank from Michigan and was just sent to prison in Alabama; that is where the confusion is likely from.

Sweet Jimmy only had sex with Jessica Rabbit and then she decided to make it pay for her, which she did to an amount of almost 300 thousand dollars.
Sweet Jimmy was put into prison for swindling money, not for having sex with a willing, adult woman. The only reason Sweet Jimmy paid the money to her was because he knew afterwards he had stuck his dick right directly into crazy and she was going to cause him great harm.
She enjoyed it and everything and was a willing participant, at the time. Only later did she figure out it was rape and then extort Sweet Jimmy.
There was never any investigation of a rape, much less a charge. Jessica Rabbit says she was "forced" into the encounter, not physically, but emotionally and was "tricked" into getting gang banged for several hours by Sweet Jimmy and another preacher.
Turns out, the notoriety of being found to have paid her hush money led to discovering other financial improprieties and this led to him being imprisoned.
