We all know Butch Davis is seconds away from being out as the Vols head football coach. Jon Gruden's name has been brought up for a lot of jobs over the years, but now it's being reported that Tennessee has offered him $10 million a year. Per Oliver Connolly of SEC Country and Cox Media...

Goddamn, Larry. Butch Davis???

Any story that says Butch Davis is the coach about to be fired from TN loses credibility. Less than 0% chance Gruden leaves his current gig to go to TN, or anywhere else in college football for that matter.

So "Butch Davis" has already been hired and fired to replace Butch Jones and now they're after Butch Gruden ?

He's got the perfect job. Why slum it and get back into the coaching hellhole?

I can't imagine why he would take a tasking job like that when he now has it made with current gig.

Gruden is this generation's Dick Vermeil...the guy who's been out of coaching and in the broadcast booth for a zillion years, but is always the hot name.

UT leadership is a joke. They have known that they were going to be looking for a coach this year but here they are trying to play catch up. Then a media leak that there is a 10 million dollar offer which will only hurt their contract negotiations with the actual coach they hire. UT's only hope is that Auburn fires Gus because we would conduct a worse search, make a worse hire, and that would help them look better in the process.

Funny how the "next" great coach is always the 1 that pulls an upset or 2. Last year it was Herman, now it's Iowa States coach coming out of nowhere.

To be fair Matt Campbell has been getting it done for awhile. He was at Toledo and beat Arkansas plus had a MAC championship before stepping up to Iowa State. His rise has been sorta like Urban Meyer and I expect at some point he will get a major gig.

ESPN may opt out of the NFL broadcasting rights so this kinda makes sense. Gruden might need a job.
