Lolo Jones followed up making history with a happy dance. Let her explain...
quote:
how’s my hamstring injury after the Olympic Trials? Ayyyy ! We backkkkkk zero salsa classes taken. Self taught
I took 15 days off of social because as light hearted as I look in this video the last ten days has actually been the hardest of my year. I went from the fiercest physical battle to the most intense mental battle.
Immediately after breaking history and becoming the first 100m hurdler to run the Olympic trials in their Forties, I walked off the track people in my inner circle trying to force me to retire. My track spikes were still on my feet.
I was so stressed out I went back to my room and didn’t even eat or sleep for 24 hours.
It robbed me of my moment to celebrate the achievement I worked so hard for.
It should be my decision when i no longer want to endure the sacrifice of being an athlete.
Frustrated I travelled home. After months of traveling I sat in my house for ten days and didn’t move.
Retirement for an athlete is a very personal thing. And it’s not a linear as people think. Jordan retired twice so did Tom Brady. There can be a grey area.
So I’m on here to say I will retire when I want to. Not because it’s uncomfortable for people to see a 41 year old pro female athlete. I’m not retiring this year.
For all those that sent me positive messages and helped me break history thank you ????
