Over the weekend, University of South Carolina president Bob Caslen announced the newly graduated USC students as alumni of "the University of California." You can see that here. Well, the embarrassing mistake is even worse than imagined, because he actually stole his speech from Adm. William McRaven, the Navy SEAL who led the mission to kill Osama bin Laden...

That's ADM McCraven in the uniform. And, yes, he has accomplished a lot of things to be proud of, as has Bob Caslen. Stealing other people's stuff and ideas for processes, products, and messages is an an Army tradition. Just doesn't play so well in academia. It was dumb to not ack McCraven I the speech.
