Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops was at all impressed by how Texas A&M QB and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel torched his defense in the Cotton Bowl. John Hoover of the Tulsa World shared some of Stoops' thoughts...
quote:

"If they can keep (Manziel) out of jail or keep him eligible, he’s gonna be pretty good."

"If they can keep him off the Twitter, he might have 3-4 Heismans. He'll have that type of ability."

It was more passive/aggresive than anything.

Now that is really funny coming from an OU Coach...I think they lost several players to arrests that occurred before their bowl game

Stoops' rips are about as effective as his defenses.

Doesn't sound like he is "ripping" Manziel at all...sounds like he is saying that JF is damn good.

If Stoops could've put in a decent defensive scheme he might not have to jump up and down and get all excited when Little Johnny runs all over him

O.K. - the guy was a complete dbag for making some borderline comments about a 20 year old kid who's not on his team. The 'reporting' here is a bit misleading, as the overall tone of the interview was very complimentary -- especially after he just walked all over OU in the Cotton Bowl. As needless as the comments were, they are taken out of context here.
