“It’s at the top of the SEC where the problem has occurred, and it’s all one person’s fault — it’s Kirby Smart’s fault,” Finebaum said on Wednesday’s Crain & Cone. “Because he won two in a row, he made it look so easy — he should’ve won three in a row, but Nick Saban stunned him in the SEC championship game. And then all these other things have happened. I don’t think it’s a reason to go hide under a rock, nor do I think it’s a reason for SEC fans to find anything that they can and beat their chest about.”

Finebaum knows times have changed.

“It’s also worth remembering that 14 years ago, I put out a book that was entitled ‘My Conference Can Beat Your Conference: Why the SEC Still Rules College Football,’ and you can get that book right now for about 35 cents online, because it’s not selling very well,” Finebaum joked. “‘Let’s just be real about it’ is my message to all … the people in the SEC who just won’t let this go.”

Ohio State bought championship 1 in the New Era. Indiana did the same but took advantage by having an average age of 24, which was unprecedented, I am sure. And now it looks like LSU may have bought the next one, maybe.
We need team and position salary caps for college football. It is pay to play not give them ungodly amounts of money for their crew. Jordan Seaton does not deserve 4 million anything. I totally agree they better get it under control sooner than later. Cap each position. 1 mil max for a QB, 750k for an offensive lineman, etc. This will bring the players to where they really want to go and not just where the money takes them.

The Big10 is not “dominating” college football

Simple. NIL. When players played for the love of a school and also the environment they played in the SEC was dominant and always would have been. We simply are in a different era of college football. Money can win all. Till that changes we play in the best conference week in and week out where everyone can beat you. You can’t say that about the Big 10.

Nothing lasts forever the sec isn’t always going to be the best. It will for most years most likely not every year. Not that a big of deal either. That’s life.

Marketing is what is going on. Soon, the SEC goes on one of its incredible runs of 7, maybe 8, in a row while the NCAA determines another format to keep other conferences excited for football!!

The SEC succeeded when they were given spots in Natty games. Now that they actually have to win a series of high level games they can’t do it. The myth is being exposed in front of our eyes. All this talk of tough schedules is a joke, The SEC got spanned by both the BIG and ACC. If it wasn’t for biased polls always ranking SEC teams high they’d have nothing.

ROFLMAO. There is a reason they pay coaches millions. So another conference wins two in a row and people claim the SEC is fodder. Everyone knows and has known for 25 plus years, the real national championship in NCAA football is the SEC Conference Championship. It will even draw a bigger TV audience!!

But do not worry, the SEC will save the league again and bring back the excitement of Big Time College Football.
