Here's How This College Football Analyst Thinks Clemson Would Do In The SEC
Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports
College football analyst Pete Fiutak thinks Clemson is on the same level as Georgia if they were in the SEC. Per WFNZ’s Wilson and Parcell Show...
quote:

“‘Yeah, Clemson you’re great. No one’s denying your greatness, but stick Clemson in the SEC and they’re like, what, Georgia?’ They might get through one (challenge) to get to a national championship. But it’s one thing to go do what an Alabama’s done and go through LSU, Auburn, Mississippi State and the whole SEC world or else having to go through NC State – the Virginias of the world. It’s just a different animal.”
Thoughts?

It not the individual games, it the cumulative effect of playing tough competition week after week.

They would still be good but they would not roll into the college football playoffs with no injuries. Playing Virginia, north Carolina, nc state, wake...it's a joke. Bama would beat each one of these, literally, by 70 points. Playing bama, auburn, LSU, miss state, arkie, Georgia, Florida, etc takes a toll on any sec team. It is much, much more difficult than just having to get up once or twice a year. Yea, Clemson beat Bama down and had a great plan but let's not act like Bama was hundred percent. In the sec, by the time u get to the 8th game u are a MASH unit. Trevor would have to deal with actually being hit week after week by top calibre defensive players. Dabo and Clemson nation can play up that schedule but even they know it's a joke.

I don't care how good you are, its real hard to go undefeated in the SEC. There is not one SEC team who wouldn't trade with ANY other team from any conference, if it was based on yearly schedule.

OMG, are you serious. SEC is leaps and bounds better than the ACC!! period

I know a lot of folks say this is just SE puffery, but as opposed to the ACC slate Clemson has faced over the recent past I have know doubt the odds of some blemishes on their record would increase significantly. Clemson darn near screwed around last year a time or two and almost got burned in the process, one of those to an SEC team (aTm). Clemson has struggled generally the past few years for their wins VS the rank and file SEC teams as well(aside from USCe) so I have no doubt they would not be sitting so pretty if they had the SEC slate to face.

they are good enough to compete. but keep in mind, had they been in the SEC the whole time they wouldnt have been in those national title games. at least not all of them. which means that recruiting would not have been as good. the whole spiral effect

Alabama has the easiest schedule in the SEC.

I agree...they would be near the top of either division and would have a good chance of winning the conference. They wouldn't win it as much as they win the ACC lately and they would probably deal with more injuries on a year to year basis.

FACTS are FACTS. I completely agree. No other conferences can duplicate the SEC meat grinder.

SEC West would be a tough slog for any team...SEC East (where Clemson would likely play) not so much outside of UGa

I do not disagree here. Clemson would definitely have been formidable and likely competition for division champs and right to represent the East in Georgia for the SEC ship. But, undefeated? No.
