ESPN writer David Ching unveiled his list of the top five quarterbacks from the SEC over the last decade this week and sitting at No. 1 was former Florida signal caller Tim Tebow.

quote:

1. Tim Tebow, Florida (2006-09)
2. Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M (2012-13)
3. Cam Newton, Auburn (2010)
4. Aaron Murray, Georgia (2010-13)
5. AJ McCarron, Alabama (2010-13)

Just missed the cut: Dak Prescott, Mississippi State (2012-15); Connor Shaw, South Carolina (2010-13), Matthew Stafford, Georgia (2006-08); Andre Woodson, Kentucky (2004-07); Ryan Mallett, Arkansas (2007-10); JaMarcus Russell, LSU (2004-06); Chad Kelly, Ole Miss (2015)
You can see what he had to say about each quarterback here.

so I guess winning was not considered a main part of it...only three of them even won and Sec title and 7 of those never even made it to Atlanta!

Cam is 3x the threat Manziel ever was. Consider the talent surrounding them in their respective seasons at their schools.

Considering championships, heismans and POTY, With these 5, I'd probably make it: 1 Tebow (heisman, 2 titles, 2x POTY) 2 Newton (heisman, title, POTY) 3 Mccarron (2 titles, POTY) 4 Johnny (heisman, POTY) 5 Murray (4 pats on the back)

To be honest, if I had to select 2 QBs for an ALL SEC team to take on an ALL Pac12 or ALL Big10.... I'd have to take Tebow and Cam.

Not sure how anyone can have someone other than Newton number 1.

No Stephen Garcia? This list is worthless.

If I had to pick a QB putting their ability above the help they had on their team, I would go: 1. Cam Newton 2. Tim Tebow 3. Aaron Murray 4. AJ McCarron 5. Johnny Manziel Manziel is highly overrated and spent most of his last season just slinging the ball up for grabs. Cams talent was above all the rest. Tebow had the second most talent but was also helped alot but the talent around him. AJ was as accurate as QB that didn't cost his team games. Murray did more with less talent at WR.

Manziel won the Heisman, an individual award. And ESPN is ranking individual QB's, not teams But who generally gets credit for titles primarily as a PLAYER? The QB. I think 2 titles and runner up Heisman beats one Heisman even on an individual level ergo AJ>JFF

Cam belongs ahead of Manziel.

Pretty damn good group of college QBs there.

I would go Cam Newton, AJ McCarron(2 titles), Johnny Manziel, Tebow, then Murray or Jamarcus.

I would also add that Tebow and Manziel are interchangeable at 3 and 4 and either Murray/Stafford/Jamarcus could work at #5.

TT>AJ or JFF. AJ was the definition of a game manager.
