Neon has set up that NIL pipeline. He is probably funding it through anybody that played in the NFL with a net worth of $50 million, or more. I bet Brady, Brees, etc., are throwing a few dollars their way.

And all the nice rich people of Jackson thru city taxes.

Shaq4prez...not saying this is the case but i can definitely see it going down this way: "Hey (insert person in national spotlight), i need to get this HBCU program up and going. You gonna help out these kids that can't afford the opportunity?" Out of fear of being publicly portrayed as "that guy" that doesn't support minority kids, they send him some "go away" money.

JSU was 4-8 in 2019, and went about .500 in 2020 with the majority of games being cancelled/postponed. DS goes there and in 2021 they go 11-2 with their only losses being UL-Munroe and SC St. in the National Title game. Let's not act like UL-Munroe didn't beat Saban when he first got to Bama, so yes they are a pretty decent team in some years. Now Coach Prime is bringing in better talent and I'm happy for him. He obviously has turned that program around and been an immediate impact. Just because YOU may not pay attention to JSU, you can be assured that scouts and others will. If a kid can play, he can play. The NFL will always find players if they are really good, no matter what school they attend. It's crazy to think Walter Payton came from that very school back in the day and many are acting like every NFL player came from a power 5 school.

These kids and their families who are all chasing this money are too shortsighted to see they are actually hurting themselves. They are risking their development and chance at the NFL by leaving a program with endless resources and opportunities that can develop their skills to maximize the odds them having success and getting to the NFL. Iron sharpens iron this is why their are so many SEC players in the NFL. Some of these guys will drop down to the SWAC and then fail because they are not ready for the huge jump in competition.

Walter Payton and Jerry Rice says "Hi". PLENTY of players in the NFL have come from HBCU's and extremely small schools. If you're good, the NFL will find you.

ellis you are missing the point. Yes if you are "that good" the NFL will find you. But do you want to take a guess to how many HBCU players are in the NFL currently? I will answer for you, it is 18 players on 32 teams at the start of the 2021 season. The fact is if you are a player you want to play at the very highest level you can. a 4 or 5 star playing at Jackson State against 2 star players isn't going to make him improve the most that he can. Then when he does go to the never NFL he has developed in college to the best of his ability so he will get drafted lower and earn less money. Again, Iron sharpens Iron.

It is good that the HBCs are getting some players, but the reality is that these players will not be able to compete or practice with the best players, they will not get massive exposure via TV, etc. They will not have the best food, the best gyms, the best dorms, etc. Hope they do well, but something says we will see them in portal soon.

Big transfer is the wrong term. He dropped from 4 stars to 3 because he was a linebacker who couldn't cover or crack the depth chart so he moved to DE

Come on man, why do knuckleheads like you figure someone like Deon Sanders can't coach, cause he black. Smh Sanders knows a lot about football knowledge-wise that he passes on down to these kids that will have them ready for the NFL. He also has good coaches around him X and O's wise. It's just BS to say these kids are getting zero coaching. Smh

shite, most head coaching jobs are about having a great selling personality, recruiting, delegating coaching responsibilities to asst coaches, just selling your program period to fill seats, and last winning. Coach Prime checks all the boxes, and I sure wouldn't call Les Miles and coach O great coaches. Lol

They're wasting a year of their lives and careers on small time nutrition, S&C, and coaching while thinking they're still on the same track as kids at big time schools. Their ignorance and naivety is being taken advantage of by a showman and egomaniac who can't coach actual football.
