That was when Bobo had his Seattle Seahawks/Marshawn Lynch moment smh
The florida game was way worse though. Treon harris threw it like 6 times and they ran all over us.

Meh,they finished 7-6 and gave up 56 to a mediocre A&M team at home 2 weeks before. At least their teams in '10 and '12
won double digits and finished ranked.
Florida game sucked as well.Favored by double digits and came in way overconfident because Missouri (a team we crushed earlier) rolled Florida 2 weeks before
42-13. Our defense had no answer to stopping Treon Harris and their option game. Was at the game and pissed.

this is such a stupid talking point that gets mindlessly regurgitated for no reason. Can the bobo haters pick one meme and stick with it?
-Bobo is way too predictable, I could tell you what play is coming up
-We always run it on first down
-Most bobo drives go run, run, pass
-We don't run it enough. Run the damn ball bobo!
Which is it? As I've thoroughly debunked many times I will sum it up again for those that can't think for themselves.
-5 minutes left and we're down 3 and at SC's 4.
-We run a play action fake which is done by every OC, at every level of football, every single weekend. Passing the ball inside the 10 is not illogical or out of the ordinary in any way, especially if the whole stadium thinks you're running it. Protection is a turnstile and Mason throws the ball directly to the ground
-Why does no one blame the shitty blocking for allowing a free rush?
-Why does no one blame Mason for forcing the refs to call an intentional grounding?
-2nd down we do what the bobo haters want and hand off to gurley
-3rd down we do what the bobo haters want and throw it to gurley. At this point we have either unsuccessfully attempted to, or actually have, targeted Gurley on every play of the drive.
-4th down from the 11 we have a routine chip shot TWENTY EIGHT (28!) yard field goal which we proceed to miss
-Why does no one blame the shitty field goal attempt?
Here's a nice thought exercise. If we make that FG that middle schoolers can make regularly and tie it at 38 and end up going to OT and losing, do people still point to Bobo's play calling 12 years later as the reason we lost? Of course they wouldn't, they'd be blaming whatever chain of events occurred in overtime. So what it all boils down to is, with all else equal: FG kicker misses = Bobo is an idiot. FG kicker makes = play is forgotten about entirely.
CAn someone tell me how much logical sense that makes?

Not reading all that. Give the ball do the Heisman level talent in that situation, every time. Spare me the white knighting.

Florida, we just got our asses whipped by a significantly inferior team on a neutral field.
totally agree with you. What's even more maddening is that pruitt never adjusted. I vaguely recall there being a lot of bullshite reffing with us being held and not called, but I can't point to that and blame it for hte loss. That happens in eveyr game to every team. Looking at the box score treon harris only threw 6 passses all game, and only completed 3!!! Their leading WR had 1 catch for 13 yards. Their top 2 RBs nearly ran for 200 yards EACH. We just simply could not stop them at all. Pruitt is a lights out awesome DC but I don't know why at some point in the 3rd quarter we wouldn't just sell the frick out and put 9 in the box or something, ANYTHING to stop them on the ground.
I also see that, in typical fashion against UF in those days, we repeatedly shot ourselves in the foot such as:
1st quarter- missed 39 yard field goal
1st drive of the 2nd half: 3 plays then fumble
2nd drive of the 2nd half: 2 plays then fumble
just a comedy of errors all around.

The Braintrust knows the game much better than Kirby or anyone, really.

We've won the SEC 3 of the last 4 years. Imagine that in the mid 90's when I would have been happy to just beat Tennessee.
Well, consider that Mark Richt only won the SECC twice in his entire tenure at UGA. That was considered his pinnacle of glory moments. Now, like you said, Kirby keeps winning them left and right and most everyone just yawns at it like winning the SEC isn't even a big deal anymore if it isn't followed by a natty. We've become a spoiled fanbase.

I started watching in 2002, and in my eyes we were a national contender every 5 years.
2002-lost one game but easily could have made it to the natty if OSU or Miami were to slip up
2007-still think we were the best team that year. Freaking Kentucky loses it to Tennessee and we are left out of theSECCG. Of course LSU jumps us despite us being higher ranked initially.
2012-the setback at USC was worrisome but after beating Florida everything fell into place. I remember seeing all the teams ahead of us lose the weeks before the SECCG. We take Alabama to the ropes and honestly still not sure how we blew the lead after the blocked FG
2017-Another magical year, everything just worked out. Of course Auburn beats us but we turn around and beat them.
Then we had to wait 4 years…2021, then 1 year….and since then we’ve been a contender annually.
Honestly I think if we hadn’t played in the SECCG the past 2 years we would have another natty too. Seems we just have run out of gas after those games and have nothing left in the tank for the playoff
