Keep it in JAX, the being in FL factor matters none. If you have ever been to the game that week you would know. It doesn't only bring revenue to FL, fans flood St Simons and other areas in GA as well for the game. Its one of the great traditions in college football

It's a loss of a recruiting weekend in what is our largest conference game most years.

This is actually part of the writing on the wall that is telling anyone paying attention that TWLOCP is already done. It’s gone. Just a matter of when it will be announced at this point.

Because Georgia and Florida are absolutely allowed to host recruits in Jax if they wanted to. The reason they don’t is because both schools have a gentlemen’s agreement not to do so.

So you see?

If Kirby and other movers and shakers are throwing the recruiting loss out there as a reason to abandon Jax, when they could kill the no-recruiting agreement with a 5 minute conference call.... you know somethings up

I believe that is a conference (maybe even NCAA?) rule that during a certain dead period (which this game falls during) you can't have direct contact with recruits that aren't being hosted on campus.

Also I do NOT know the ins and outs of this so legit askign but can you host recruits at games like the kickoff classic?

Smart’s reason? It’s a recruiting disadvantage for such a big game to be played at a neutral site (although it must be pointed out that UGA and Florida could host recruits there, but both schools’ athletic directors agreed not to do so, in order to keep profits healthy).

Well, the schools currently get about $3 million each to play in Jax. The next deal is currently being negotiated and the rumor is that number will go way up.

I think Jax is prepared to pay whatever it takes to keep the game.

Not on official visits.

Recruits can take unofficial visits to Jax.

According to the NCAA's website for last season LINK

quote:

September 1 through November 24, 2018 - Quiet Period

quote:

What is a quiet period?

During a quiet period, a college coach may only have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents on the college’s campus. A coach may not watch student-athletes compete (unless a competition occurs on the college’s campus) or visit their high schools. Coaches may write or telephone college-bound student-athletes or their parents during this time.

as I understand it, the reason that we ELECT not to host recruits on that weekend is that we would be unable to show them campus and facilities; yet would still burn an official visit

Hasn’t The Landing been done away with? Won’t that lessen the overall weekend experience?

The Landing was a ghetto eyesore. There are plenty of bars in Riverside and at the beaches that are far superior to that shitstain.

As for my opinion, one recruiting weekend really doesn't matter to me. This game is special and should never leave Jacksonville. Making it a home and home would kill a lot of what makes this rivalry so awesome.

How cool would it be to watch that same thing in Gainesville?

Either way, it is a hassle and fricks many season ticket holders out of the chance to go without buying on the secondary market.

Gainesville is a shithole but whatever...

I ask again...

Why does one team need an “agreement” with the other not to recruit at this game?

And what does it have to do with “keeping profits healthy”?

I’m not saying that this journalist can’t be mistaken or flat out wrong, but if he’s not, it contradicts what some people are claiming here about visits and ncaa rules etc.

It’s Michael Carvell from Dawgnation that wrote it. Someone should tweet at him or email to clarify. The article is only a day or two old. The GSB needs Leaders

White flight is pushing business southeast of downtown. That’s why Jags and Stadium investors are trying to get a business development deal pushed through at tax payer expense to replace all the bars restaurants entertainment that is fleeing.

The fate of the stadium/ Jaguars, which is on shaky ground, is yet another factor in whether the schools want to sign multi year extensions to the WLOCP deal.

Goodbye, see ya, siyanara, or revoir TWLOCP is done.

While I favor keeping the game in Jax it's still only a 45 min ride from the UF campus and Jacksonville was sometimes a site for UF home games when they needed bigger capacity.

It's 250k each plus they split the gate plus travel expenses.Probably does come to around $3 million (give or take)
