Mike Bianchi is a fricking hack. An absolute joke of a writer/radio host.
ETA: This is an excerpt from Tony Barnhart's article about this game, and he is 1000% spot on correct:
You don't see Oklahoma fans bitching to move the Red River Shootout out of Dallas. This game should never, ever move from Jacksonville.

Bottom line: This game has its own Hall of Fame. Move it to campus and it becomes just another game. It will still be big. But it won’t be special.

100%... He's the most pathetic "must have hot take to generate clicks" buffoon in sports writing right now.

It wouldn't surprise me if he hosts his morning radio show wearing a Tebow jersey and a pair of jorts.

Those are good points... you’d just think... that for 1 high profile recruit they could VIP somehow.
It would be extremely difficult to showcase UGA’s campus for a kid visiting the game in Jacksonville. I don’t think the NCAA would be down with private planes shuttling recruits back and forth between Athens and the game.
ETA: I’m not advocating moving it but can see why Kirby might want to.

Home games in Athens aren't exactly the economic boom they are rumored to be. Lots of people come to town yes and they spend a lot of money but locals avoid Athens on game day like the plague. Bars and restaurants don't have turnover on game weekends like they do on a normal weekend....between parking problems, hoardes of people, traffic and long to interminable waits for tables game weeks in Athens are not nearly the boom most people think they are. Athens is the center of commerce for about 5 counties in the region and on game days it would be a ghost town if only locals were around....

So you are saying nobody goes there because its so crowded. Interesting economic theory.

Sooo..you claim if Athens was only locals it'd be a ghost town, but there are over 100K people that come from out of town to spend money and fill up downtown so much that you can't even get a seat at restaurants, and that's not an economic boost. Think about that.

I’m pretty sure businesses don’t give a frick who walks in their doors as long as they come and their money is green and the cards swipe.
