What’s your thought on KJ Bolden?

Especially in light of all the recent Auburn & FSU talk.

His dad said there were 3 things guiding his son’s decision:
1) he’d be challenged academically & graduate in 3 years;
2) he’d be properly developed for the next level;
3) he’d start on Saturdays.

I think 1 & 2 are good. In the 2022 draft, FSU placed 1 player, AUB 5, & Georgia 15. And KJ described Auburn as “in the rebuilding process” & FSU as a program that’s “definitely changing.”

But I wonder about #3. When do you see Bolden starting?

Buford = don't care. Honestly tired of even wasting resources recruiting them or Grayson

in 2024 or when he actually proves himself? If it’s the former we may not be the place for him. The fact that’s the attitude is kinda concerning.

He’s not gonna be handed anything.

He’s talented as hell. Wouldn’t be shocked at all if he was good enough to get heavy PT in 24. Bullard is probably gone after this season. So is Tykee. He could very well handle some nickel or dime roll.

When 17-18 year olds start acting like this in regards of what their decision is going to be I get more and more disenchanted with them and listening to their "reasons". If he wanted to be academically challenged why isn't Vandy in the mix? If he wanted to be properly developed for the next level then UGA is ahead of both Auburn and FSU without question, and if wants to start on Saturdays as a freshman he needs to look in the mirror and make sure he knows that is up to him. Lets be honest, whatever school he decides on will most likely NOT be the school he finishes with with the way NIL and the ease of the transfer portal lets players move around.

He won't earn that with his mouth. If that is his attitude let him go elsewhere.

UGA blows 1 and 2 out of the water compared to anyone else in the running for his commitment.

Ok, well then come in and take the job of the man in front of you. If you want handouts, go join Riddick on the plains.

In Riddick’s defense I don’t necessarily think he’s getting a handout. I think he’s probably just better than the current trash on Auburn’s roster. As far as how this recruitment has gone I don’t think Bolden himself has been that vocal in terms of posting online and claiming he’s going here there and everywhere. At least not as bad as some guys I remember from past cycles.

I might have been a little harsh by calling it a handout, but it just comes across as wanting an easier path to playing time vs. taking your lumps for ~2 years, but then becoming a stud/high draft pick

I'll always prefer the guy who wants to grind his way to his starting spot

A lot of chatter about Bolden to FSU. WTF knows at this point. Seems like too much of a “me” personality really…

I'm not following recruiting nearly as much as I used to. It appears that Kirby's got this on lock, so I stopped worrying about it, but this is absolutely the impression I get about Bolden.

Visited our school 16 times.
We were his 2nd ever offer.
If he goes anywhere else it is simply NIL related.

Not sure I would be looking at a school that is creating issues publicly about their monetary situation with their conference. Especially when they have a Grant of Rights that makes it almost impossible to leave the conference

I’m not worried either. I don’t think Kirby says what he said about coaches trying to convince DB recruits you can’t play early at UGA if he didn’t have KJ already.

I took it differently. If he’s got him, then he’s got no reason to say anything. The fact that he made that pitch means he still trying to convince him.

Could definitely be true too

I guess if that’s the case his “decision” is nothing more than a placeholder.

He pretty much said he’d still be “All ears” which could be NIL related

Here’s what you need to know. Kirby was I believe his second overall offer as a freshman. Kirby has taken a special interest in him since then. He’s visited us something like 16 times both official and unofficial. Kirby being interested early and meeting with him personally every single one of those visits means a lot to him. KJ has said himself he doesn’t have a relationship with any other coach like he does Kirby.

FSU was his childhood dream school but they for whatever reason were late to the party as far as offering and really pursuing him. That left him feeling jaded a bit but he’s kind of gotten over that.

OSU and Auburn are mostly NIL related. They’re willing to offer more than us and FSU. A lot more. But apparently we have upped our NIL offer some to try to get more in range.

The fact of the matter is you and I may not like the drama that surrounds but he’s a damn talented player and I’ll be pumped if he chooses us.
