What's the point of making the playoffs with this team.

I just don't get it. Let face it. We do not have the qualities required to win this year. If our team was peaking like say the 2005 team at the end of the season or the current Gamecock team I would feel differently. We're not. We're regressing, and it could be argued we have been regressing since the first game against Clemson. Our D has been solid at times (TX) but outside of that I have a hard time recalling any time I would label them "elite". The back 7 have for the most part been suspect at best all season. Tackling and speed are not up to the standard set by previous teams. I'm not even gonna address our offense outside of saying the dynamic schemes and creativity of Monken disappeared when he left. Our offense continued to shine albeit slightly less so last year due to Bowers, Ladd and other solid performers like RJS and Bell. It wasn't due to the schemes Bobo created. They're gone except for Bell and we've reverted back to Bobo's mean, The results speaks for itself, and I don't see the point of making the final 12 knowing full well we don't stand a snowballs chance in Hades of making a competitive run for the title.....and we don't. This entire season could be encapsulated with the one play in the 3rd quarter yesterday when on 3rd and long, Beck got under center and handed the ball off to Cash Jones for an inside run. For anyone that saw it, it speaks for itself and the trajectory of our future if no changes are made.

This team is s not a playoff. As long as Beck is QB, this team isn’t it. That change needs to be made more, but it won’t. Beck sitting over there laughing when Rashada was trying to talk him up.
The defense sucked arse. Period. Did the the LBs cover any one at all? Etc etc etc

I hear you but part of the point in making the playoffs is having extra games to provide valuable experience to young players.
Any objective observer knew that we did not have a championship level team. You could see it even in the lack luster wins.
We had a brutal schedule and I thought we would lose 2 out of the 4 big games 3 of which were on the road.
The game last night was literally a perfect storm on the road in steady rain against a very good hungry team.
But the truth is Ole Miss is better at almost every position.
We were dominated on both lines of scrimmage.
Their OL is better that our OL and their DL is better than our DL.
Their QB had all day to throw to excellent receivers.
Beck had poor protection throwing to mediocre receivers who dropped passes left and right.
In the rain you need to be able to run the ball but we do not have good run blocking.
I watched GT beat Miami and I was amazed at how well coached GT is in run blocking with much less talent than we have.
As such, we need better coaching and better players at many key positions.
Our recruiting rankings have been good but somethings players like Arian Smith don't pan out as expected. Injuries have certainly limited our RB room but the truth is we don't have a running back with that it factor like a Chubb or Gurley.
I also watched Bama blowout LSU last night mainly due to the extraordinary play of Milroe. It's amazing what a super athletic dual-threat QB can do in the right offense.
The part of the equation that Kirby missed during his training with Saban is the part about how important it is to recruit key skill players and develop an offense around them. Saban did this with Tua, Hurts, Bryce Young and Milroe all of which have beaten Georgia.
We need to recruit a 5 star dual-threat QB and get a new OC who knows how to build a run/pass option offense around said QB.
Stacy Searles needs to go and we need to get a OL coach who can recruit better linemen and coach them and our TEs in run blocking.
I think our defense is pretty solid overall but we need a DB coach who can teach our defenders to turn and look for the ball instead of blindly focusing on the receiver.
Our zone pass defense was bad last night with Ole Miss receivers running in and out of our zones often with no close coverage by our defenders.
Meanwhile they covered our receivers like a wet blanket.
But in spite of all the issues, I still think we can beat Tennessee in Athens. The Vols are good at beating up on weak teams but they don't look so great against good defensive teams and I think our defense is capable of playing well against them.
If Beck can have a good game and our receivers actually catch passes, I think we can beat them.

I think the design of this current o we run has to have a running qb.

That's a fair point since Bobo is probably still running most of Monken's offense which we were running with Bennett at the helm of our championship teams.

Agree and upvote.
But I didn't specify skill level, I just said they were better at almost every position.
The distinction and what I mean by this is the quality of a team is a combination of skill level and how well they are coached and play within the coached system as a team.
Last night proved that the Ole Miss is a better "team" than Georgia.
And yes, we certainly have the talent to become a better team.
We will find out if we potentially a playoff caliber team when we play Tennessee in Athens.

Each week I hope that Beck has his head on straight and the offense comes alive, only to get massively disappointed.
At this point, I really want to see the backup QBs. I am done watching Lambo Beck and his expensive tattoo sleeve.

The fact that the first post of this thread is polling at 62.5 percent at the time of reading this makes me wonder why so many of ya'll don't just find a new hobby or something to do on Saturdays in the fall.
Completely fricking joyless.

Battle tested more so than any team in CFB. That's very helpful in a 12 team playoff.

You know the 2005 team is the one that shite the bed in the Sugar Bowl, right. Bad comparison. 2007 was peaking at the end. Would have been a tough out for anyone.

It doesn't look like what people want it to look like. But one would expect a Marine to understand ugly. Win anyway you can and never give up.
Most resilient UGA team ever.

I think:
Oregon
UGA
TX
Tennessee
Ohio state
ND (maybe)
Penn state (maybe)
These are the only teams that have more than a puncher’s chance. I don’t see any Goliath in those teams I listed. Nobody is way better than UGA. Also, we have a bye and the easier side of the bracket. Not saying we are hands down favorite, but we have a decent chance.
