Don't know if you saw, but Woodland had to go to the hospital for dehydration today after his round. That probably didn't help his play.

I don't keep up with golf near as much as y'all do. Can someone tell me why they play a major (and it seems like it's the US Open more often) on such a pedestrian course? I went to Pinehurst last year and although the grass was nice the whole thing was a sandbox. Looking at this course on TV, the entire thing looks amateur. I realize that the powers that be may want to have one major on a "harder" course than normal, but you'd think they coudl pick a better course than what they have? Again, I don't follow this stuff, I coudl be off base. Any insight?

I'll defer to some of the others with more golf knowledge than I have but my understanding is that there was a change in philosophy years ago to bring the Open away from exclusive clubs and onto courses the general public could play. The Open is the "people's" tournament because anyone can earn their way into it if they're good enough - as opposed to the Masters and others which are invite only or part of the Tour.

Also, I think they're trying to spread it out geographically as this is the first time it's been in the Pacific NWest. Other than that, the course is definitely interesting....but I was wondering about having a major on a course with a train line running beside it.

They're definitely trying to expand the places they've played it by including an area in the Pacific Northwest like Squelch said below me. The course can be played by the public, and it's actually a pretty nice course with a little bit of a different test than most other courses in the states. I still don't know why the greens are like they are, but the USGA does what the USGA wants sometimes.

I respectively resign. I have a sore back and don't think it would benefit me to continue. I wish my fellow competitors the best of luck and my the finer gentleman win. Good luck. God Bless. And Go Dawgs!

Looks like only 1 or 2 Dawgs are going to make the weekend, so if it's 2 you have to use a different one each day.
