Urban Meyer predicts that 2020 is Florida's year

So Urban Meyer says that this is the year Florida beats UGA and makes it to the playoffs...says Mullen has built a "damn good program."
Florida to beat UGA in 2020
What's the realistic thinking on this?
Defensively, UGA should be as good or even better than last year. Having an elite defense would buy some time for the offense to gel under a new coordinator and a new system.
However, there is the reality on offense of replacing two high NFL picks at the tackles, a QB who played 29 games in the SEC, and the top RB in the draft.
Until Newman proves he can do it against SEC competition, he's a risk. The offensive line seems likely to drop a bit but with Smart's recruiting guys like Truss, McClendon, and Jones, we'll be okay. Having more of a run threat at QB may take some pressure off. Meanwhile, the overall RB group of White, Cook, McIntosh, Milton, and Edwards should be on par with what we've had...though unless White lives up to his pre-injury hype and someone else shows out, we're still not quite at the level of Chubb-Michel-Swift. That was an incredible trio to have at any given point. At WR, I think we make a huge jump from last year, considering the guys we brought in and a year of experience for Pickens, Blaylock, Jackson, and others.
I can see why Florida thinks "this is the year" and they might be right if Newman doesn't deliver. But if Newman DOES deliver, UGA 2020 may be better than 2019.

If this isn’t the year, then when can be the year? It’s bound to happen one day.

It has to be this year or we will be on a ten year streak vs them. They are recruiting well enough to be top ten but that puts them 6th in the SEC.

Mullen has siked himself out against us. He can be as "great" a coach as Florida fans claim he is, but he seems to catch a case of the yips against us.
Putting all this pressure on him for this year is only going to make those yips worse.

Gators replace significant D starters (Henderson, Zuniga, Reese, Greenard), a pile of WRs & Perine — who saved their arse in the Orange. They got their work cut out for them.
If you watched the Orange, that scrambling VA QB Perkins gave them fits. By the time we get to Oct 31, Newman & co. should be rolling.
It’s great to hear Gator fans saying “no excuses” for 2020. And now Meyer chiming in ... pressure’s building on muLLLen. Bet he shitcans Grantham with a UF loss to placate the masses.

Spring practice should be like a conference game every day for Newman. Find out quickly if he's got what it takes.

Bryce Perkins gave a lot of teams fits. He was really, really good.

I honestly have no earthly idea where all this Florida confidence is coming from. They don't recruit nearly as well, and they lost some significant senior contributors this year.
I used to think the theory that the media WANTS Florida to be good was bogus but now I can kinda see it's true. For some reason, the national media desperately wants Florida to be in the national spotlight

They have a huge fan base and it sells more clicks or papers when they are performing well. Same for ND, USC, OSU, Texas. . .

It's because there's this narrative that Mullen is an offensive savant and that Kirby sucks. It is forgotten that Kirby has dragged Mullen through the mud 3 years in a row.

Kirby has really been dragging Mullen through the mud for close to 10 years now. Kirby's greatest investment is the stretch of real estate he owns in Mullen's little head.

Can we use the word psyched here? Can I get y’all to do that for me please?

Who cares? People have been saying we would fall off for 3 years now. 11-1 is the mostly likely outcome in my mind. If Florida is that loss and they win the East so be it. I don't think they beat us though. ..

No edits... I gotta let the world see my dumbass mistake.

Meyer is full of shite.
If anything FL’s chances of beating us are on the decline as Mullen is a terrible recruiter. We handled them last year with one of the worst offenses we’ve fielded in a while.

Look, let’s be honest. Given the turmoil and change there is the potential for a lot of upside for the Dawgs if they are in a groove by Jacksonville. But the potential is there to be struggling too. I feel confident about the game, but it’s not a gimme. End up -4 in the turnover game and bad things happen.
That being said, I hope people hype the living shite out of Florida. I hope they are picked to win the East and the NC by everyone. I would love for UGA to play as the underdog. But I do not think Vegas will oblige unfortunately when it comes down to it.

No one is picking them to win a NC. They would be HEAVY underdogs against Clemson and Ohio State, but they won't even make playoffs despite that pathetic schedule.
