Maybe not. I still find it hard to believe that there is a dearth of highly qualified candidates.

That tends to happen when you lose almost your entire defense to the NFL the year before. They lost as much as we did, not to mention the coaching staff turnover. Nobody with any sense thought they would be as good. They were still damn good up until the playoffs and the SEC title game, and I don't remember anyone, including Saban, whining about the defense at that point. They just ran into a truly great offense and QB in Oklahoma and then ran into a better team in Clemson.

It sure feels to me like it's gonna end up being lanning (and maybe we're just searching for a DB coach rather than a DC) but if that were the case, I'm not sure why the delay. The only thing I can imagine is that it's someone still coaching in teh NFL but not sure who that would be.
At any rate, I know we're hosting recruits this weekend so it would sure be nice to have someone by then.

Anybody else heard about Torrian Gray maybe becoming the next DB Coach? Pretty impressive resume with VA.Tech, UF and the redskins.
