I have read elsewhere that Ansley is definitely out. No idea on why.

So is Raymond officially out, or did OP jump the gun from the fake news on Sunday that he's staying at LSU even though no offer has been made?

No-I didnt jump the gun and yes, Per DN this morning, his was interviewed is officially "out" as he wants to stay at LSU and apparently Ansley has not been interviewed nor interested.

"But so far, that hasn’t happened. LSU defensive backs coach Corey Raymond interviewed for the job, but it appears he will stay at LSU. Raymond might actually be the best defensive backs coach in the country, given the talent LSU churns out at the position. But alas, it seems he wants to continue to coach at his alma mater.

It also is worth mentioning Derrick Ansley at this point, someone many would assume that Georgia would be interested given his recruiting pedigree and his ties to Alabama and the Nick Saban way of thinking. But despite being “under strong consideration” for the job according to DawgNation’s Mike Griffith, there’s been no mention of interviewing or being interested in the job."

The way this off-season going so far, we will probably promote Lanning/Schumann to Co-DCs and promote Bacarri Rambo to CB Coach.

Also, while it’s more likely than not that Corey Raymond isn’t coming to Athens - I wouldn’t put too much stock in Conner Riley’s article which is just an amalgamation of things others have reported with no new information.

I thought no offer had been made to Raymond. Where is this guy getting his “info?”

Interviewed yes, offer, who knows? I beginning to suspect that Kirby will hire from within.

I can't imagine you wouldn't offer one of the best DB coach in the country if he was interviewing. It makes no sense. It feels like Kirby has bungled this coaching hires, and for his sake and the sake of the program, these hires better work out. Ansley is the guy he should have gotten. How hard did he really look for either coordinator positions? You would think his phone would be ringing off the hook with qualified candidates, and we're going to promote from within.

Maybe Ansley doesn’t want to leave the NFL. I haven’t heard Ansley interviewing for any other college coaching positions. Have you?

I just google searched it. There are ZERO articles about Derrick Ansley being linked to any other college coaching positions or anything else.

I’m not really sure that Ansley has ever expressed any interest in any position, ours included. His name got tossed around on a couple message boards and suddenly he was a candidate. I’m pretty confident it was just some fan pipe dream that a beat writer or two caught wind of and decided to produce some click-bait with.

Tosh Lopoi

Seems like a bad pick. Saban just said in an interview yesterday that he had to be more involved in the defense this past year than he’s had to do in his entire career. Would seem to indicate that Kirby being involved isn’t going to assure our D of being elite if Tosh is the pick. Maybe co with Lanning?

Perhaps you're right, but from the sound of it we haven't even contacted him. I find it hard to believe he wouldn't want the promotion and the huge salary increase. That position would also lead to running his own program one day, assuming he was successful. It worked for Mel Tucker.

No offense to Lanning who I think is a really good coach, but I would take Lupoi over him. Lupoi has been a defensive coordinator at the highest level and is one of the best recruiters in the country. He's also incredibly familiar with Smart and his defense.

And this seems to carry a lot of weight with Kirby.

Which is also the praise we’ve heard with Lanning and Schumann. If Saban had as much trouble with the defense this year as he has said (and lets Lupoi go, as is rumored), how well does Tosh really know the D?

Yeah, it sounds like Lupoi was really not up to the job of being a DC at the highest level. Never thought the Bama defense was up to past standards this year.
