it came to Raymond and Ansley, which would you think Kirby would choose?
Ansley has to be first choice, but if it's him why haven't they offered?

Ansley bc of his resume. But other sites are saying that Raymond is interviewing for the DB position.
After looking at Raymond's resume, those two sound like a nice combo for UGA's D.
And does Wesley McGriff have a chance for the hire?

A homerun hire to be sure, but I'm not going to be holding my breath on this one. He's an LSU alum and they aren't just going to get him go without a fight. Why Smart is taking so long on DC is a mystery. Go get Ansley and be done with it. Who can you find that is better from a coaching and recruiting perspective?

Now the details of each, I’ve got nothing.

Ansley left Alabama and coaches DBs for the Raiders last year.
It looks like Lanning to DC and a new hire for DB coach is likely. If that is the case, throw the bank at Raymond. He is the best in the nation.

What is Lanning’s background like?
Posted on 1/12/19 at 7:16 pm to NCDawg52
Lanning? No way. He was a grad assistant like 8 years ago. There's no way CR leaves his home to work under someone younger with less experience and less of a record of accomplishment.

No he was an assistant on high school staff, not a grad assistant.

Well, this is what it’s looking like. I take it you don’t think he’s qualified?

You do realize who he currently works for, right?

Lanning would be a head scratcher for me.

Yeah, I don't understand not going and getting Ansley. Guy can coach, has tremendous experience, and can recruit his butt off.

Understood, but apparently he's out of it. I don't really get Lanning, either. Completely unproven guy taking over a top program if I'm not missing something.

The premium kirby puts on high level recruiters is almost hilarious

It’s almost as if Kirby is modeling things after Saban...
Once upon a time, Nick Saban promoted a young, unproven position coach in whom he saw great potential to DC. That young coach grew into the roll and Nick maintained a presence with the defense. The young coach stayed for 9 years and brought tremendous stability and success.

Would love it but I don't see him leaving LSU unless they offer DC and all that $$$$

Some of them are melting rapidly and they should be because as of this morning, Raymond is still in Athens.

I think him having a two-day “interview” was the plan, though.
I’m really leaning toward thinking he’s being considered for the DC job. Co-DC at minimum.
