I could see it, and as a Bama fan I kinda hope it happens. The SEC Championship Game is shaping up to be really tough and Georgia being higher ranked is the kinda thing that Saban would use to make sure our team is pissed. We'll need to be, it's going to be a showdown in Atlanta if both teams make it there.

Malzahn has to be busy sacrificing goats and first born children to whatever dark gods he can find. He's now potentially got a chance to frick up perfect seasons for his two biggest rivals.

Really hope not... in the first 3 years of the playoff committee, no initial #1 has won the title; in fact no #1 in the final rankings has won it either. Also until last year no #2 in first rankings had made the title game.

Granted it is a very small sample size. So it could just be coincidence.

As CKS said, the the present determines the present, not the past. We shouldn't care what other teams did previously as we are in a place where if we do our jobs, we will win it all.

I still don't see how they can't have us at #1.

Notre Dame will be somewhere around #5, so if they put Bama at #1, then they're telling us that head-to-head matchups don't even matter. That it's all just a media-hype-driven poodle pageant and they think Alabama has the shiniest coat.

They proved that last year with the PSU/OSU debacle

Let's put it another way...

If they put Bama ahead of Georgia in their rankings, then they are telling us who they think would win if the two teams played each other tomorrow. Which is the exact opposite of how they claim to put together their rankings.

It would be an admission of fraud.

That was with a 2 loss situation though, right?

Not the same thing. PSU had two losses. OSU had 1.

If PSU had one loss they would have gotten in.

Starts in Athens Sunday morning with film of South Carolina......Polls are meaningless.....we don't want to be alone loss team because there are way to many media favorites with one loss

Everything hinges on the Auburn game. They are in the best position of any team we'll face in regular season to slow our run enough to fundamentally change what we've been doing. Shits going to get real for Fromm in that game. And Auburn will pull all out all the stops to derail a 9-0, possibly 1 or 2 ranked UGA.

The best thing for Norte Dame is a #1 UGA... therefore, it shall be.

How fitting would it be that beating a perrinially over ranked team bosses out ranking? It would be very unseemly to have Notre Dame bump 2 of the big 12, big 10, or Acc champions out of the playoff when they lost to #2......but they'll be able justify it if they lost to #1.....

I will bet a Coca Cola right now that if we have one loss and Notre dame has one loss we get bumped.....if we lose one but win the SEC by beating Bama a rematch between us and Bama in the CG would be pretty compelling to folks in SEC country but everyone else in the nation will whine about the SEC being ESPNs golden child and CFB can't have that

The projections have ND at 3 or 4 now.

How would we not be #1 after beating a 3/4 at their home field?!

Who cares about the past, Bama beat A&M by 7 and they just got smoked by MSU by 21 pts.

I don't disagree that we likely come in the 1 spot on the CFP rankings, but that game is a bit of a mirage... That is the worst Bama has played all season by a wide margin. It might also be the best A&M has played since the first half of the UCLA game. Freshman QB running the show there now, and as we know from last year, that can be very up and down. They are running the ball well, and stopping the run. Strength on strength... will have to see how it shakes out for us.

You must have loved the Goff years. We looked like #2 quite frequently.
