Players keep thinking the grass is always greener and throwing opportunities away. They get conned into not waiting their turn. Here are a few I can think of:

Nick Marshall - Talked into playing QB and didn’t get drafted and promptly washed out of the NFL.

Tyrique Stevenson - Playing for a garbage team with nothing to play for.

Jermaine Johnson - Playing for a garbage team with nothing to play for.

Cade Mays - Playing for a garbage team with nothing to play for.

I don’t blame Jermaine. He wants PT and a shot at the NFL. He was going to struggle for playing time this year if he stayed, but now he is doing pretty well for himself at FSU and in a feature role.

I read this on another board:

Jermaine and Tyreque are the best defensive players on their current team (and were rotational pieces at UGA).

We have an erk russell defense.

Add Luke Ford. Made the right decision to transfer to Illinois, and we are still rolling in TE talent.

In fairness to them:

Nick Marshall

I might be thinking incorrectly, but wasn't he kicked off the team? And he wasn't talked into being a QB, it is what he wanted. You are right. HUGE mistake for his NFL future.

quote:

Tyrique Stevenson

This was a mistake, no doubt. They sold him on playing at home and that they would have a really good team.

quote:

Jermaine Johnson
He wanted to be on the field every down and show off his pass rushing skills for the NFL. He is getting what he wants. This was probably a good move for him and hasn't hurt us.

quote:

Cade Mays
He is not a tackle, but his family told him he is. he could end up being the big loser of the bunch. He MIGHT get drafted but it will be as a Guard. His leaving didn't hurt us, either.

Mays and Stevenson were the only ones that were bad decisions. Especially Mays.

DRob I don’t blame for leaving.

Cox went where he could just do whatever he wants with no discipline.

Nobody has brought up Divaad Wilson yet (bigger loss from the secondary compared to Stevenson, IMO)

Speaking of transfers. Tykee Smith didn’t play right? Probably can hold him out until Arkansas

Really, really good player and showed out yesterday. But he brought drama and issues. He also didn't like to be coached and mentored by other players.

DRob? I hate he didn't click for us. It was just one of those things. I hope he does well at Auburn except when they play us.

I'm not sure losing Mays hasn't hurt us.

You can never have too many talented bodies on the OL and I always thought Mays could be a very, very good player.

DRob and Jermaine Johnson made right decisions. They’re both on pace for career years.

DRob - Playing for a garbage team that thinks they have something to play for

Agree about Mays. With Ratledge hurt, we clearly lack an RG and C with any semblance of communication or wherewithal. Mays wasn’t great but he was good enough

I recently learned that Marshall is currently a cornerback in the CFL.
