Adams, who has been one of the most active SEC presidents when it comes to athletics, said Friday he senses there is a "a lot of motion in the direction of nine games right now." Georgia is one of those for whom the current eight-game structure is most convenient, but Adams appears to sense a riding tide on the other side. The Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac-12 are among those that have gone to nine games. The SEC has remained a holdout, but SEC commissioner Mike Slive said Thursday it will be discussed, and hinted it could happen even over the objection of the coaches.

9 conference games will lead to a push for a 13 game regular season schedule... will lead to compensation for the players & will eventually lead to a College Football Draft.

I'm all for it.

I think a 9 game conference schedule is fine but I don't see why that necessarily leads to an addition game aka 13 game schedule though the more football the better from my perspective. But really, aren't 3 non-conference games enough? Just need to eliminate one of the creampuff games.

And then there is this:
quote:

Also Thursday, the board indefinitely suspended plans to raise academic requirements in 2016 for initial eligibility at the Division I level. If enacted, the changes would have forced many first-year student-athletes to sit out of competition as "academic redshirts."

WTF

The Football Factories were never gonna let this shite fly... Even tho the have not's(GT, Duke, BC etc) in D-1 had more than enough votes to make this happen, they bowed down to the Almighty dollar (which pads their coffers too) & the big schools...

Shows you that the academic argument is all lip service & bullshite rhetoric by the higher ranked Academic schools ( they had their chance but pussed out)... They know which side of their toast is buttered..

Y'all's Academic endowment money dwarfs most schools (including UGA) but the people in charge at GT give no fricks at all about Athletics at all, ergo y'all gotta go along with the flow, either eat or be eaten. FWIW, Imma all for that rule, would love to see it, but I think it would be shot down & tied up in Equal rights & discrimination lawsuits for years to come & TPTB know it... IYKWIM...

9 conference games don't eliminate creampuffs.
It doesn't do anything to bolster scheduling.

It does 2 things.
1) More of the same. it's a round robin in conference. just as equally as your could expect a good opponent, you could get a crappy one.
2) Discourages better OOC scheduling. tOSU already backed out of our game. Nebraska is backing out of a game with Tennessee. It does nothing to force teams to eliminate creampuffs. All it does is discourage a home/home with someone because of the lack of home games already.

I DON'T LIKE THE 9 SEC GAME SCHEDULE. IT'S ANADVANTAGE FOR THE OHIO STATES OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL. THEY WILL STILL PLAY A CRAPPY BIG 10 SCHEDULE AND HAVE AN EASIERPATH TO AN UNDEFEATEDSEASON AND ACHANCE TO PLAY FOR A NATTY. SORRY FOR THE CAPS MY PHONE IS BEING RETARDED.

Ohio State plays awful non conference schedules every season. They stopped playing marquee games outside of the B1G after Texas in 2005 and then U$C in 2008/2009 ruined their seasons. Their scheduling is a disgrace to CFB. Florida hasn't played a non conference game outside of their own state since 1991. Pitiful.

Side note: Wanna win a bar bet? The last team from the state of Ohio to beat OSU in a football game was _______?

(Answer is Oberlin College in 1921)
