What a doozie. Rain is gone. Never lost power. Didn’t even hear the wind blow

We will rebuild

MACON, Ga. — 10 a.m. update: As the sun rises across Georgia, more than a million people are without power after strong tropical storm-force winds from Zeta swept the state in the early morning.
Georgia EMC is reporting around 370,000 power outages in Georgia around 10 a.m. Thursday. Most of the outages are concentrated in metro Atlanta and north Georgia, however the “middle” region only accounts for around 1,800 of those outages.

Meanwhile, Georgia Power is reporting more than 560,000 customers are without power. Just like with Georgia EMC, most of the outages are in the top half of the state. So far, Bibb and Pulaski make up a bulk of the outages in Central Georgia.
In total, nearly around 20-25% of Georgia Power customers are without power right now.
EMC representatives warn that outages could increase throughout the morning as strong winds and heavy rain contribute to outage conditions.

We kept power, fortunately. Wind woke me up around 5ish...loud!

We have Greystone Power out here and there were nearly 60k w/o power when I got up this am. Not a pretty outage map.

Online decided to cancel as well (which is dumb because it is modules which have to be completed... do it Friday or do it saturday, they are required to be done).

Probably because they figured so many people would be without power.

Yup. We are still without power.

I fought the generator all day yesterday. Changed spark plug, oil, gas, and cleaned the carburetor and still couldnt get it running.

Georgia Power says we will be out until sunday.

The worst part is that we dont have a strong cell signal right now (I'm guessing due to the storm). Even with the devices that have juice, it isnt a practical amount to get any work done (for me or school)

We see that every time we have a good hurricane. Think some of it it power related and some is bandwidth restrictions. The last few storms I was in in SC and Florida we noted the same thing.

Did you make sure it was plugged in?

It's funny that you say that. My wife is very handy. But she kept asking me if we could jumpstart the generator. Lol

I waived the white flag. Called the local hardware shop to schedule a dropoff. Brought it by there this morning.

Power just came on 2 hours ago.
My wife is frustrated with the generator (18 years old). Now she wants to spend the money on a brand new one.

Power flickered a bit in Kennesaw during the storm proper but held steady. Internet/cable was a different animal. No internet for 2.5 days. Had to limp along doing work tethered to cell phone data. Finally came back up yesterday at 6pm.

I just got power back on here in Marietta about an hour ago. Still no Internet or cable, so I’ll be listening to the Dawgs on the radio today. Cobb EMC said that Zeta is the most destructive storm they’ve seen in their 82 year history. I can believe it: there are trees down everywhere here, and my street is still blocked by a fallen tree.
