Bushmills neat or Turkey neat.

The liquor I go through the fastest is Morgan's spiced rum (and coke).

My one and only experience with Captain Morgan’s was on game day when I was at UGA and I threw up IN the stadium.

Yeah...white trash move but I was learning my boundaries.

I'm somewhat ashamed to admit this but I've never thrown up in Sanford. Which is actually pretty shocking for as fricked up as I used to get on gamedays.

I have thrown up at the tailgate. Many times.

Bourbon is my drink of choice.

Everyday goto: Evan Williams Single Barrel / Buffalo Trace (both excellent and both 25$)

It's Friday and it's time to chill : Basil Hayden / Angels Envy (super smooth 50$ range)

Special occassions (a special occassion usually just involves someone else is present to partake in the bourbon driking) - Willet's Pots Still Reserve (if you can find it - snag it) Elmer T. Lee Single barrel -- getting into 85-120$ range and its absolutely worth it, especially the Pots Still "Genie" bottle

other stuff i have in the cabinet:

Blantons - this is old time style bourbon, very popular but I tend to drink it only rarely (which is good considering price)

Jim Beam Bonded - it's solid and it's cheap and its ok if you put it in your coke...

Henry McKenna 10 year - this one has that 'kentucky hug' if you are in the mood to 'feel it'

Woodford Reserve - this is my goto to serve to larger groups-- you can get it at costco in DC in an absurdly big bottle

The Duke - swill

Knob Creek - colorado bourbon has a different feel to it, Knob is a little too harsh for my taste.

Larceny - this is my goto when i want to mix it up with a rye style bourbon

Four Roses single barrel - no complaints here

Four Roses small batch - not as good as single barrel

Eagle Rare - don't think i'll rebuy, lots like it though

Maker's Mark - what i used to sneak into UGA games in ziplock bags, nostalgia

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof - sometimes replaces basil hayden as a weekend goto

crown royal - my goto to mix with everything

WL Weller Special Reserve - actually got this bottle at a great price at 5 points in Athens this past year - haven't cracked it yet.

on my list to try -

- bulliet
- old forester
- blade and bow
- widow jane
- bookers

Me either. I thought it was a better version of Buffalo Trace, but it seems harsher and less flavorful to me. If I ever finish the bottle I have, I will be done with it.

sorta my thoughts as well. For that price range i've found others i enjoy more.

Has anyone ever gotten to sample the holy grails of bourbon?

Got to shelf bourbon: Buffalo Trace. If you can get it - it’s excellent and inexpensive considering how good it is. Tough to find in SC though.

I went to their distillery up in Kentucky for a tour. Pretty impressive how they make it and the different ways they explained how to make whiskey. Get a buzz walking through the warehouse with all the barrels. Buffalo Trace is good stuff.

My go to is always Crown Royal. Watching UGA on TV, drinking my crown and stumbling to bed after the W.

I did snag a few bottles of Weller Antique single barrel that 5 points had a year or two ago. Still have 2 unopened and haven’t had it in a while but I remember the first bottle I had was a step up from the standard blended Antique. Would not be surprised if it was all placebo though haha

Managed a couple of times... have always personally found it to be a bit overrated. Plenty of bourbons in the 40-60 price range that give me everything I want...

Ultimately, price =/= quality when it comes to alcohol... this goes for booze, wine, and most of the time even craft beer (sometimes the craft beer market does a good job of accurately pricing the rare beers by quality fwiw).

It was one of my first "better" bourbons, so I think my connection to it is more emotional than flavor... ... But I've definitely felt like there are other bourbons in that range that are bringing more to the table these days.

First choice is a 18 year old single malt but a mature 12 year old will suffice in a pinch....

18 year old Glenlivet first, followed closely by 18 year old Glenfidditch. Then 12 year olds in the same order....then Johnie Walker Black, Johnie Walker blue, Chivas Reserve, Macallen 18,14 and 12 in that order. If there is not single malt available and none of above blends Johnie Walker Red or Gold or Platinum....if none of that is available just plain old crown royal or Jamison.....one of the two are ALWAYS available.

I drank so much bourbon and sour mash growing up I just don’t care for it any longer. Prefer Tequila to American and Canadian Whiskey now.

In Europe Aldis sales a 12 year old single malt for around 20 Euros a fifth that is as good as any $80 -$100 a fifth single malt. Hard to believe a 12 year old whiskey can be that good. Can’t buy it in the states as far as I know.

Always neat....no ice, no coke, no water.

I’ll drink almost any whiskey though......if it’s free I’m in! I likes me some whiskey.....

My one weakness with alcohol (LOL) is Captain Morgan.....I won’t have it about the place. That shite is way to tasty and way to cheap. I started on it on sportfishing trips years ago and still won’t get on a boat without a half a gallon. When I was at GTMO it was the coin of the realm....$24 a half a gallon (1750 Ml) and you could trade it for $100 worth of Filipino or Jamaican manual labor....I got a 90 house OMC 2 stroke rebuilt and installed, including parts, for $48 worth of Morgan. A Filipino couple cut or lawn and cleaned the house twice a week for a half gallon a week! I am married and my wife and kids were with me for those 3-1/2 years so I don’t know for certain but I’m told that for $24 worth of Morgan you could get a pretty good looking Filipino or Jamaican woman for the weekend ( good looking being a relative thing...women leave Jacksonville a generous 7 and as soon as the patriot lands on leeward they become a GTMO 10!)

The Filipinos and Jamaicans (and Texans) mix it with Dr Pepper.....never liked that but on the rocks in a 32 oz Yeti? Nothing better to smooth out 4s -6s close together on a following sea..........of course after the obligatory 2 bloody Mary’s on the hill and a breakfast of wasabi and wafer thin slices of whatever poor critter is the first to come over the transom after making bait.....god I miss the ocean......
