I have had all the Bourbons and largely believe it is a commecially exploited category ie... Let's make up another funny name and history and slap a stupid price tags on it. Some bourbon fanatics are as annoying as craft beer people. I find Pappy quite often in my travels at restaurants. At home I drink Weller, Angels Envy, and Amador becuase they are very good, even Evan Williams makes a good small batch.

Worked for New Englander's for years so Vodka/Gin in the summer and whiskey between labor day and memorial day.

Gave up scotch when I laid down the cowboy killers. Had a hell of a collection.

I agree on the bourbon comments. It’s all over marketed right now.

I’m just looking for something smooth ...and there are a number of those for under $50.

Agree, Special occasion, Angels Envy, good but half the cost, single barrel Evan Williams.

Drinking whiskey, Weller or Evan Black.

My neighbor has a hell of a collection and we have both noticed the friends that show and drink the expensive stuff often are the least heeled in it. We often sit in his $3.5 million dollar home's basement and drink regular old Evan when surrounded by $1000s of bourbon and wine.

I am the same with Vodka, I like Ketwl One and Smirnoff. Blows people away when I tell them Smirnoff still often wins bli d taste tests against goose and Belvidere.

Everyday Bourbon for me would be Evan Williams 100 proof. Its cheap, not to sweet and did I mention its cheap?

For Scotch:

Lagavulin 16 or Ardbeg Uigeadail

Bourbon:

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof or Bulleit Barrel Strength

High proof bourbon goes well on ice during hot months without losing flavor.

TX Whiskey & TX Bourbon

The only place I know to get it outside of Texas is on the base here in Charleston and a few western counties in Louisiana.

If you can get on base or know someone who can, I highly recommend. If your are in the Charleston area, I would be glad to pour you a glass one day.
