It's looking like it might a done deal. His career has always been a little curious to me. Obviously, he's a daddy's boy and his whole career has been the result of nepotism but is he any good?

He went from coaching TE's at Georgia to being the assistant head coach at Oklahoma. What did Lincoln Riley see in him to give him that kind of promotion?

I never got the sense that he was a great coach when he was at UGA, nor did I get the sense he was a great recruiter.

I can't believe South Carolina is going to waste more years on a dud coach. Boom was a stretch when they hired him but Beamer is an even bigger stretch.

He’s a really good special teams coach. He really improved our special teams here which was comical at times under Richt. ST guys tend to usually get HC gigs.

Assistant head coach is a title that people get in public universities that have state laws about how much a state employee can make, based on their job title. We had to do the same to Grantham when he got his big raise here... the official job title of assistant coach wouldn't allow him to make that much, but make him associate head coach, the money can flow. It's more complex than that, but that's the gist of it.

I don’t get it. I know he’s a decent recruiter or Kirby wouldn’t have fooled with him.

He doesn’t seem to have a specialty.

Yet another P5 HC from Kirby's original staff...three if he's hired

Kirby certainly knows how to pick talent.

Coley was a great hire.
Just a poor promotion.

I was crushed when Pittman got pulled away. But I have to say that I was impressed with both how quickly luke was brought on board and how well that hire has turned out

IDK We were damn good in 17 but we had exceptional talent with Hotrod and Nizialik. Carter was also a beast at blocking punts

Not only that, but just KO/KR/PR discipline was really good while he was here. Richt’s (I say that because he didn’t hire a ST coach) last 4 years were full of holding during returns or having the most uncoordinated kid on the roster muff a pooch kick.

Everybody talks "Saban Coaching Tree", but I'm thinking if Kirbs can get some hardware to back up the bragging rights, the "Kirby Coaching Tree" will be a thing before it's all said and done.

That's what we are all hoping for but I'm beginning to think that it won't happen until after Saban retires.

The red headed step brother sure does love them some former UGA coaches/players.

They want to be us so bad but they'd never admit it.

What an awful hire. Well we don’t have to worry about them for at least 3-4 years. Way to go Tanner... you fricking dolt

I'm guessing they got rejected a few times and found out that isn't as attractive of a job as they thought.

Plus they had some budget issues to work under.

Sounds like they couldn’t meet Napier’s budget for assistants

I wonder why not Bobo, and how Bobo feels about this ?
Also, wonder if Bobo is looking to bolt? Perhaps join his buddy Kirby?

I like Bobo, but we have an OC. I think he should decide the offensive staff.

Also being Kirby's friend makes any candidate less appealing.
