It's as if you are implying that Kirby rested on his laurels with Bennett and Mathis, when in fact he went out and got the #1 and #2 QB's in the transfer portal and signed Carson Beck.
And apparently all of the options suck and/or quit, or he just doesn’t realize that Beck or Daniels are actually good, which is probably worse.
We’re either struggling to evaluate (in recruiting or on our own roster) or develop. It can’t be neither.

False
Americus, what's the deal with JT then? Is he really still too hobbled to play?

Can’t successfully recruit elite QBs right before they enroll. That’s not how it works.

Who said anything about elite? At this point, we would settle for even borderline competent.

He could play, that's why he has traveled.
He hasn't practiced very well, that's why he's 3rd on the depth chart.

I simply do not believe that he has practiced so poorly that we would actually expect him to play worse than what we are currently trotting out there.
His freshman year USC film, while not overwhelming, is way, way better than the QB play we currently have.

Unless.. Daniels is actually ready to play and Kirby is afraid of looking foolish if he looks awesome right off the bat. Then we have a whole other problem.
Either way, this scenario makes Kirby look like an absolute buffoon.

You are asking for good EE QB prospects but refusing to accept that good EE QB prospects typically don’t exist at the last minute.

No, I’m not. I’m asking for average ones, which are very much available at the last minute.
This team would kill for a Hutson Mason or Joe Cox right now.
Nevermind that the last minute timeline is itself a sign of a failure to manage the QB room effectively.

Let's bring CMR back to coach QB's and call plays. Say what you want about his record but the man is one of the greatest college QB coaches around.

If we believe that Kirby isn't a liar, then we suppose either:
A. 5-star Daniels is performing so bad in practice under Kirby and Monken's coaching and development that he can't beat our clearly underwhelming walk-on or the borderline 3 star QB who wouldn't start for any other P5 team.
Or
B. Kirby can't see how bad Bennett and DWan are holding us back and/or doesn't think that giving a healthy Daniels a shot is warranted.
Either one is asinine.

Nothing available besides projects and undersized guys that late in the calendar.
You are confusing transfer portal with effective management. Times have changed.

Did you think the same thing about Mathis last week? How did that work out?

The kid is hurt. Has a limp. He isn’t good without a knee. Kirby isn’t gonna throw him under the bus.

We should be able to find a project or undersized guy that can play at a higher level after a year in the system (which both Mathis and Bennett have had). The bar is pretty fricking low.

Other teams seem to be getting by OK.
