If they were to get rid of Crean; would you be ok with them hiring Rick Pitino? I would be 100% on board.

You really don't want to give the NCAA a reason to start sniffing around your program, if you can help it.

I think Pitino has learned his lesson and would like to right the ship for his legacy's sake. He would be a draw. He can recruit. And, he can coach. We need a Pitino at UGA.

Going to take a Rick Pitino type to get us going, young guys don't work for us. Our success Durham. Tubby. Harrick.

I would welcome Pitino.

That wouldn’t be a problem at UGA. He has the State of Georgia to recruit from. Pitino would cherry pick from this state. The SEC really doesn’t want him at UGA. It would be bad news for everyone else. We literally could go from one of the worst programs to top 1-3 within a year with him as our coach.

And Atlanta is right next door so the stripper buisness would thrive. It’s a win win

AU and LSU have thrown that caution to the wind with their coaches and I'd take their current programs in a heartbeat.

Most of the good schools cheat so I don't know why we'd be targeted more than anyone else.

The good schools aren't looking to expand their club, for one.

I highly doubt that if we entered "the game" and started pulling high profile kids from 45 miles from our campus that unc, duke, kentucky, etc would point fingers and say "hey they're cheating!"

I'm sure 5 years ago no one thought Auburn would be where they are but despite everyone knowing the reason why it's been largely unpunished. They had to miss the postseason this year but they were 1 second away from the title game so I'd call that a fair trade, and their recruiting sure isn't slowing down

Wouldn't be entirely opposed, but as others have pointed out we will have a magnifying glass on our program in that case. He's also 68, who knows how many good years he has left in him.

Not directly, no. We do live in an age of essentially unsourced reporting, however; so who knows what some "enterprising ivestigative journalist" might turn up based on his own, totally-not-handed-to-him, totally-not-based-on-a-whisper-campaign might find.

I do agree that college athletics has mostly become a game of "if you're not cheating, you're not trying", and that the vast majority of it passes without comment by anyone, and almost certainly deliberately so. That said, it's impossible to predict if and when a story will suddenly hit, so if a top prospect or two who had been heavily tied to UNC, Duke, Kentucky, etc., suddenly flip to Georgia, that might draw some attention.

100 times yes. He's taken 5 teams to the tournament, 3 to the Final Four, and won national championships at 2 of them. College basketball recruiting is the dirtiest game in the world. Might as well get one of the best at it.

All of this ^

I'd agree that the bigger concern is that he's 68. How much longer will he/can he coach, and can he make us an attractive enough place and have a succession plan in place to continue whatever he builds in whatever short period you manage to have him run the program?

Cheater or not... he still has to coach. He’s proven he can do it. I honestly think it’s a no brainer and now has me REALLY QUESTIONING my position on Crean even with me flip flopping so much

I think it is time we hire the first Transgender Pacific Islander. I’m not concerned if they can coach, just the message it would send about how engaged we are with the current social climate.
