Is his inability to field a COMPLETE team. Offense, defense, special teams, coordinators. The closest we've had was probably to 2002 or 2012 squad.

In 2008 we had NFL Talent at skill positions but the OL and defense we're awful. Injuries plagued this squad to however.

In 2011 we had Murray and a great defense but no consistent RB and the OL was mediocre

2012 we had a record breaking offense with Murray, Gurley, a stable of solid WR, and a decent OL. An assload of NFL talent on defense but a DC who never subbed and build no depth whatsoever

2013 we had an offense capable of winning a national championship (before the injuries). But once again our DC couldn't develop talent and led us into an atrocious year on defense.

2014 we had Gurley, Chubb, Michel, solid stable of WR's, an outstanding OL, an extremely young defense that, even while rebuilding, was capable of winning the SEC without a doubt, but.....Hutson Mason at quarterback.

2015 we have Chubb, Michel, Mitchell, and an assload of talent at TE, and finally for the first time in years a defense that is the strength of the team with a DC that can develop talent and coach em up but......Were left with two quarterbacks who have no business starting at any school in the SEC and one go-to WR in Mitchell with no depth whatsoever at the position

I'm optimistic that Richt is finally starting to recruit balanced classes, for every position every year, instead of years past where we recruit heavily for positions that were losing a lot at the next season.

I'm not going to read all of that right now because I am crushing up some pills but it's not his fault Ramsey sucks. He was a 4 star recruit. Richt did his job and got him on campus and has presumably tried to bring him along the same as Stafford, Murray, etc. Sometimes kids just don't pan out. It sucks that we have been spoiled with really good qb play recently and that now is what is holding this team back, but eh such is life.

I'll add with the QB situation, there were a few other losses at that position...Lemay...Park...Bauta....I'd say all three were good to great recruits coming out of HS...shite just didn't work out...sucks but it happens

You need an NFL type qb when you don't have a defense you can really count on. Those Bama and LSU teams have traditionally had great defenses and run games. We have an average defense and a good run game. Not exactly a great recipe

You don't need an NFL caliber QB if you are good in other areas but you need more than Brice Ramsey.

So now our defense is only average? What about our world beater O line and best 3 punch RB setup in the country. Bama is so insane they just neutralized that? wonder if Jim McElwain or Brian Kelly would've gotten drubbed at home just as bad with our roster

When you give up two non-offensive touchdowns and your QBs play like death, you're going to have a bad time.

Yes. We just don't have the depth yet.

We got outcoached and outplayed.

total arse whipping from A-> Z.

Our O line is above average, but in no way elite.

Our RB's are great, but incapable of doing it alone.

Our QB's suck...plain and simple.

And our defense, while a step up from Grantham D's, is good, but not great.

What does that Spell?

A good but not great team. Combine that with piss poor mental and emotional preparation with a sprinkle of bad coaching and you get a loss to pretty much every other team that has equal talent and possibly a few Richt-isms of losses to inferior talent.

Embrace it...its been almost 14 years...its who we are under Richt and it aint changing.

Our o line got their shite pushed in outside if theus and maybe Pyke and Wynn. The switch to center isn't easy, and this was the first time a player as high quality as Robinson lined up right across from Kublanow.

Neither of our TEs can block for shite either. I think we need to try Quayvon back in the TE spot and have welch or Payne play FB on more running downs.

there is a vast difference between what we put out on the field and what Bama did. Vast.

undoubtedly

what bama fielded is a great defense...ours is above average but very far from great.

Our vaunted LB core was non-existant...except for Kimbrough...that bastard is bad arse and meet Henry in the hole a few times and won...I watch Floyd get trucked over a few times...

We just are not that good. Period.

Here is the bottom line. You can whiff on one QB and end up with a 3star Mason for a year ok. You whiff on 3 in a row and you have a catastrophe. That's on mike Bobo and Mark Richt. They did a hell of a job with QBs with the exception of 06 and 09 but we are looking at maybe 2017 before we go into a season with a confident returning QB.

Have you seen UF and NDs roster?

This was another CMR team getting punched in the mouth and not getting back up. We all had unrealistic expectations of Lambert after seeing him dice up some high school defenses. Id like to think that the coaches who work with him every day knew what they were putting on the field vs Bama. because the plan was obviously to throw it early and often. Wonder what Saban wouldve done with Lambert if he was playing the best defense in the country

I'd say we're above average. In that I mean that there can and will be games where we look like the '85 bears and there will be games where we look like '12 Auburn and get pushed around. Saturday we got pushed around. I still think Pruitt is a very good coach and has us headed in the right direction but we have got to be more consistent on a game by game basis. Getting better on the interior line is a must and it looks like that is a priority based on the way we're recruiting last years and these upcoming classes.

Ok so I'm saying. why even try to establish the pass early the way we did. serious question. as physical as our platoon of backs is why wouldnt you hurl RB bodies into that front into the 3rd qtr at least and soften those mf'rs up

And I dont want prettymouth floyd coming in here calling me mean names. Im not a $4mil a yr coach im just asking

I think, and this is just my guess, is that they realized the alabama front was just going to stonewall us. They outclassed us in the trenches and so we tried to open up the run with the pass. It's a little backwards but it's kind of how we have to play due to our strengths and weaknesses. The first play call was great, the play action to malcolm. But after that it was just one headscratcher after another.

I knew were completely fricked after about the 3rd series.

If you run an NFL style offense. then you need an NFL caliber QB. Unless you have an NFL caliber defense like Bama and LSU traditionally field.
